March 30, 2016 Central Japan Railway Company Visit the Grand “Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route” from Nagoya Launching a “Tourist Pass” for Foreign Visitors to Japan The Central Japan Railway Company has made efforts in the past to attract tourists from abroad to the Shoryudo area by launching the “Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass” and the “Ise-Kumano Area Tourist Pass” for foreign visitors to Japan. The “Alpine-Takayama-Matsumoto Area Tourist Pass” with focus on the “Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route” popular overseas, will be newly launched with cooperation from the East Japan Railway Company and West Japan Railway Company. The pass starting from Nagoya allows convenient access to Takayama and Matsumoto with rich resources for tourism along the railway. This deepens efforts made with the Shoryudo area to attract foreign tourists to Japan. Instead of taking a one way trip to a single destination, make stopovers and returns as you wish and relish the allures along the railway. JR conventional lines ・Unlimited use of the non-reserved seats in ordinary cars on JR limited express, rapid and local trains between Nagoya - Toyama (via Tokaido line / Takayama line), Nagoya – Shinano-Omachi (via Chuo line / Shinonoi line / Oito line) ・Reserved seats on ordinary cars can be used up to 4 times as well. *If boarding the Home Liner, please purchase a separate ticket. Method of Purchase and Exchange ・This product may be purchased only by customers that have a passport issued by a nation other than Japan and whose visa status in Japan is “Short-term stay”. ・After purchase at participating overseas travel agencies, the customer will receive a miscellaneous charges order (MCO) that can be exchanged for the pass after entry into Japan at the following JR Central stations or at designated branches of JR Tokai Tours, Inc.
