Fraport Brasil - and Brasil - take over respective terminals BRL 600 million will be invested in each airport

Today, January 2nd, Fraport Brasil - Porto Alegre and Fraport Brasil - Fortaleza take over Salgado Filho International Airport (Porto Alegre) and Pinto Martins International Airport (Fortaleza). The date marks the beginning of the three months operation phase by Fraport under Infraero supervision.

With the expectation of an investment volume of minimum BRL 600 million in each airport, an estimated annual traffic growth of 5% will be sustained in each airport. “We strongly believe in the potential of Fortaleza and Porto Alegre airports, and will focus our efforts on raising their attractiveness through ongoing improvements in their infrastructure as well as the operational processes”, stated Andreea Pal, CEO of Fraport Brasil - Porto Alegre and Fraport Brasil - Fortaleza.

Under the terms of the concession agreement, the companies will develop the infrastructure at the airports via a so-called Mandatory Construction Program. Both will receive new automated baggage management and security screening systems, and additional aircraft boarding bridges. A range of refurbishment projects will be carried out at the existing passenger terminals, as well as the implementation of high-speed wi-fi to improve passengers experience.

All measures aim to ensure high quality services and operations, safety and security at both terminals in compliance with best in class standards. The project will strengthen the airport’s image by ensuring a pleasant customer experience based on friendly staff, attractive commercial areas and modern, efficient and customer oriented terminals.
