DRESS CODE AND ETIQUETTE GUIDELINES The Montour Heights Country Club Dress Code and Etiquette Guidelines apply to all members, their families and guests, including children. The purpose of the Dress Code and Etiquette Guidelines is to ensure that proper respect is shown to all of our members, their families and guests while using the Club. If there are any questions, please contact the Golf Professional. CLUBHOUSE AND CLUB GROUNDS: • Hats, caps or visors are not to be worn in the following areas: Member’s Lounge, Dining Room, Ballroom or Banquet Rooms, including hallways associated with these areas. • Hats, when worn elsewhere, are to be worn in the traditional manner. • Sweatpants, sweatshirts or other related work-out type clothing are not permitted in the Clubhouse in any area. • Dress slacks, dress shorts (Bermuda length) and business casual wear are recommended for all dining areas. • Shirts must be tucked in at all times regardless of age. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times, except in the pool area. • Pool attire is not permitted. T-shirts and tank tops are not appropriate and are not permitted. GRILL ROOM AND GRANDE TERRACE: • General appearance should remain neat and subdued dressy casual, golf or tennis attire. • Pool attire is not permitted. MAIN DINING ROOM: Prior to 5:30 pm: • Slacks, dressy shorts and shirts with collars or mock-collared shirts are required for men. After 5:30 pm: • Slacks, dressy shorts or evening wear are required for women. • Hats, caps and visors are not permitted. DRESS CODE AND ATTIRE EXCEPTION FOR DRESS BLUE JEANS: • Blue jeans and appropriate denim attire will be permitted in the Member’s Lounge, the Grill Room and Grand Terrace. -

DRESS CODE – Revised August 2018 Philosophy: The dress code reflects the dignity proper to a student attending a Catholic school. Proper school attire and good grooming are conducive to a student’s educational and social development. Whether on regular uniform days or on special dress days, students are expected to dress modestly and appropriately in keeping with our Christian values. The school reserves the right to make the final determination of “modest” and “appropriate” attire. This dress code is required of all students, kindergarten through eighth grade. It is the parents’ responsibility to see that their children adhere to the Dress Code Policy. It is essential for the maintenance of order in school that parents only purchase accepted uniform clothing for their children to wear at school. Please see the following description to ensure that your purchases are in compliance with the dress code. Shirts All shirts must be white or classic navy. The crest is mandatory in grades 3-8 only. All shirts must be kept K-8 tucked into pants or skirts unless they have a waistband. Options: Short sleeve or long sleeve oxford, turtleneck or polo (with or without waistband). Girls K-3 may wear Peter Pan collar with jumper. Slacks/Shorts Navy (K-8) or khaki (K-8) slacks or walking shorts. Shorts may not be worn November 1 – March 31. Shorts K-8 must be a modest length. No cargo pants/shorts or pants/shorts with external pockets. Jumpers K-3 SJS plaid in drop waist or split bib styles. Grades K-3 only. Skirts/Kilts/ SJS plaid or navy blue or khaki skirt, kilt, skort, or culottes of modest length for grades K-8. -

There are quite a few sewing terms that you’ll need to know to be able to properly follow pattern instructions. If you’ve been sewing for a long time, you’ll probably know many of these terms – or at least, you know the technique, but might not know what it’s called. You’ll run across terms like “shirring”, “ease”, and “blousing”, and will need to be able to identify center front and the right side of the fabric. This brief glossary of sewing terms is designed to help you navigate your pattern, whether it’s one you purchased at a fabric store or downloaded from an online designer. You’ll find links within the glossary to “how-to” videos or more information at ClothingPatterns101.com Don’t worry – there’s no homework and no test! Just keep this glossary handy for reference when you need it! 2 A – Appliqué – A method of surface decoration made by cutting a decorative shape from fabric and stitching it to the surface of the piece being decorated. The stitching can be by hand (blanket stitch) or machine (zigzag or a decorative stitch). Armhole – The portion of the garment through which the arm extends, or a sleeve is sewn. Armholes come in many shapes and configurations, and can be an interesting part of a design. B - Backtack or backstitch – Stitches used at the beginning and end of a seam to secure the threads. To backstitch, stitch 2 or 3 stitches forward, then 2 or 3 stitches in reverse; then proceed to stitch the seam and repeat the backstitch at the end of the seam. -

Uniform Code Your school uniform is a symbol of unity within the school community. It minimizes distractions in the learning process. It is important that you take pride in your appearance by wearing your complete uniform always remembering that by wearing it inside and outside the classroom and the school you are representing the school. Your behavior should be a credit to both yourself and the school community. All new students are required to purchase the new uniform. This will be the new uniform and is being phased in over the next year. Any family in need of a new uniform due to growth or wear will need to purchase the new uniform. Dress Code Guidelines Parents and students carry the primary responsibility to comply with and support the Academy’s dress code. We trust that you will support the guidelines as being representative of the witness that children from a Christian home would exhibit. Modesty, cleanliness, neatness and Christian testimony should guide dress for all occasions. WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE? The dress code has been established in order to contribute to a positive learning environment. Good grooming should be a mark of every FCA student. Students are expected to avoid extremes in clothing, hairstyles and general appearance. Students are expected to wear attire that conforms to the “Non-Uniform” guidelines to school concerts, programs and other specific school activities. FCA students are to arrive at school in uniforms as defined by the following dress code guidelines and are to remain in uniforms until dismissal. Dress code for after school activities is listed under school sponsored events dress guidelines. Clothing may be purchased from various local vendors as long as it is the approved style of School Closet and Educational Apparel. Girl’s plaid jumpers must be purchased through these 2 stores. • All uniforms that you purchase must be standard uniform fabric & style. No cargo pants, denim, skinny pants, etc. are permitted. • No brand name logo is allowed on any shirt or polo. The only exception is the FCA logo. DRAFTING COLLARS ADJUSTMENT FOR PETER PAN COLLAR Collars can also be drafted from scratch and added to your blouse and dress patterns. My favorite vintage-style collar is the Peter Pan collar, which I incorporated into the blouse variation on page 160. It can be added to any blouse, jacket, or dress with a round neckline, and it will make the most basic garment ooze charm! Depending on how you style a Peter Pan collar, it can look ladylike or playful, 1930s glam or 1960s mod. Once you understand the basics of making a Peter Pan collar, you can apply this knowledge to any shape or size collar you like. For the purpose A.
