D’amico Encourages Community Members To Donate Blood During January During January, which serves as National Blood Donor Month, state Rep. John D’Amico, D-Chicago, is encouraging eligible donors to help save lives by donating blood. “Every two seconds a person in this country requires blood,” said D’Amico. “As a re- sult, we don’t have enough blood to keep up with all the accidents and surgeries. I am rais- ing awareness of this issue during National Blood Donor Month by pointing my residents toward locations where they can donate blood.” To donate blood, individuals must be at least 17-years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health.
