The center of Del Monte’s production and the last largest cannery, The Plant Number 3, was located on Auzerais Avenue and Sunol Street until History San Jose, a city organization, tore it down in 2007. This project started in September as a part of the larger ongoing project “History of Mexicans in Santa Clara Valley,” which started in 2007. Members of the project interviewed 10 people who used to be cannery workers in San Jose from the 1940s to 1950s. In a historic move, The Leo Awards, a Project of the Motion Pictures of Arts and Sciences Foundation of British Columbia, has set a precedent in the Canadian Film and Television industry by accepting a gender-fluid performer’s request to be submitted into both Male and Female performance categories. "We are proud to join our colleagues at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in recognizing the importance of inclusivity when honouring artistic excellence" says Walter Daroshin, Chair of the Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of British Columbia and President of the Leo Awards.” Ameko Eks Mass Carroll, an eleven year-old Vancouver performer, stars in the short film entitled Limina, directed and produced by Vancouver-based filmmakers Florian Halbedl and Joshua M. Ferguson. Ameko plays gender- fluid protagonist, Alessandra, in Limina and also identifies as gender-fluid and uses he/him/his pronouns. Ameko identifies as a boy and other days as a girl and some days as neither. The filmmakers have submitted Ameko’s performance into both Male and Female Performance categories for the Leo Awards. Ameko says, “I would love to give the Leo Awards a ginormous thanks for making people under the trans umbrella feel more welcomed in the world. -

Now Lucas Till has landed the role of Angus MacGyver. The TV series turns back to the clock to find MacGyver in the earliest days of his career, after he's recruited to help a clandestine government organisation stop international crime and disasters. He has a talent for coming up with unorthodox solutions and making use of whatever happens to be around at the time, from paper clips and chewing gum. And he never goes anywhere without his trusty pen knife. Also new to the cast? Joshua Boone, who will play Gunner, MacGyver's best friend from high school. They join George Eads, playing Lincoln, a conspiracy theorist with more than the usual amount of knowledge. The pilot has a script from Paul Downs Colaizzo and Brett Mahoney, and will be directed by David Von Ancken. Wan, who had planned to shoot the pilot but is now too busy finishing The Conjuring 2, remains aboard as a producer alongside MacGyver creator Lee David Zlotoff. -
