Iowa Wed., March 4 San Jose SAP Center at San Jose 9 p.m. earned a 5-2 win vs. Chicago at Wells Fargo Arena Sat, March 7 Manitoba Bell MTS Place 6 p.m. (2/25). F Sam Anas (0-3=3) and F Luke Johnson (3-0=3) led the Wild with three points each, D Sun., March 8 Manitoba Bell MTS Place 2 p.m. Brennan Menell tallied two assists and G Kaapo Kahkonen made 21 saves. The Wild earned a 2-0 shutout victory at Stockton (2/29). D Josh Atkinson recorded two assists. F Connor Dewar and F Mike Liambas scored and Kahkonen stopped all 35 shots faced for his fifth shutout in his last 11 games. Iowa lost 2-1 in overtime at San Jose (3/2). Anas scored the lone goal and Kahkonen made 25 saves. Anas leads the AHL in scoring with 64 points (19-45=64), assists and PPA (31). Menell leads AHL defensemen in assists and ranks second in scoring with 43 points (5-38=43) and PPA (19). Louie Belpedio ranks fourth amongst league defensemen in shots (144). F Nico Sturm ranks T-3rd amongst AHL rookies in GWG (4). Connor Dewar and Sturm rank T-5th amongst AHL rookie forwards with plus-10 ratings. Kahkonen leads the AHL in wins and shutouts (7) and ranks fourth in GAA and SV%. He was named the AHL Goalie of the Month going 8-1-0 with a 1.22 GAA, a .959 SV% and four shutouts in nine games in February. Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild coaches and staff members will lead the on-ice sessions. Players will participate in daily skating, strength and conditioning sessions, as well as off-ice topics including sports psychology, social media training and nutrition education. The Wild’s 2018 Development Camp will feature two scrimmages that are free and open to the public at Xcel Energy Center. Open scrimmages will occur on Thursday, July 12 at 2:30 p.m. and on Sunday, July 15 at 5 p.m. Each scrimmage will feature two, 30-minute running time halves. Gate 1 will open to the public 30 minutes prior to the start of each scrimmage. A total of 43 players are scheduled to attend this year’s Development Camp, including 20 selected by Minnesota in the NHL Entry Draft. Players scheduled to attend include: Louie Belpedio, Kaapo Kahkonen, Brennan Menell, Dmitry Sokolov, along with all eight players selected in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft: Filip Johansson (first round), Jack McBain (third round), Alexander Khovanov (third round), Connor Dewar (third round), Simon Johansson (fifth round), Damien Giroux (fifth round), Shawn Boudrias (sixth round) and Sam Hentges (seventh round).
