RARE DISEASE DAY OBSERVATION

On the occasion of rare disease day observation, IAP Kozhikode in association with Department Of Pediatrics, GMC Kozhikode and Lysosomal storage disease support society(LSDSS) conducted awareness program. The program was Inaugurated by Dr. VR Rajendran, Principal, GMC Kozhikode. Hrithunanda, a girl affected with Lysosomal Storage Disease lighted the Lamp. We had excellent team of faculty Dr Vikram Mathews, Dr Anup J Devasia, Dr Fouzia N A from CMC Vellore and Dr Ajith Kumar V T, who gave a excellent overview about the pediatric hemato-oncological conditions and great discussion followed.
Well attended by Senior Pediatricians Dr Indira madam, Dr C K Sasidaran sir, Dr Vijayakumar Sir, Dr Mohandas sir, Dr Geetha MG madam, Dr Jayakrishnan sir, Dr Gireeshan sir, other Pediatricians and postgraduate students.
The CME was followed by quiz for post graduate students conducted by Dr Anup J Devasia. PGs from IMCH Sukanya & Ajina, got the first prize, Ashley and Sayed Sabik from BMH got second prize and Anju and Hunais from IMCH got 3rd prize. Parents of children shared their experiences.Our tiny tots danced & sang songs, all outstanding performances.Gifts & sweets were distributed and we parted with Lunch. Dr. Beena Johnson, Senior Consultant in Child Guidance, Baby Memorial Hospital Kozhikode and the State Coordinator of the Parenting Program of IAP Kerala, conducted Parenting Program at Rahmaniya School Kozhikode. Scientific guidance was given regarding the role of parents in the intellectual and academic development of children. Parenting of preschool and school age children were discussed in detail. IAP KOZHIKODE MONTHLY CLINICAL MEETING Date: 28-March-2019
3rd monthly clinical meeting of IAP Kozhikode, 3rd of the series of Panel discussion was held at Silver jubilee Hall, IMCH today 28/3/19.
Programme started with installation of Medellin, Dr Nihaz Naha, Secretary IAP Kozhikode welcomed the gathering and presented the monthly report. Dr Ashraf T P, President, IAP Kozhikode delivered the presidential address. February edition of *"CALICUT TIMES"* was released by Dr Ashraf T P by handing over to Dr Ajithkumar V T, HOD, Department of Pediatrics, GMC Kozhikode.
Panel discussion was on *Reduction of Congenital Heart Disease- a way forward*. Dr Mohandas Nair, Addl Professor, GMC Kozhikode moderated the panel. Dr Brijesh P K, Consultant Pediatric Cardiac surgeon, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Babu Francis, Addl Professor, Department of Pediatrics, GMC Kozhikode and Dr Remadevi K S, Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist, Aster MIMS Kozhikode were the panelist. Good discussion about importance prenatal diagnosis, presurgical stabilization, good transportation and different government Programmes like most succesful " Hridyam "were discussed in detail.
After the panel discussion there was an interesting case discussion by Dr Sangeetha, Senior Resident, Department of Pediatrics, GMC Kozhikode.
