Monthly Theme & Meditation

Family Project Maybe you’re not familiar with Father Patrick Peyton, known also as “the .” But he’s the one who coined the phrase, “The family that prays together, stays together.” He didn’t just make up the phrase one day; he had been educated and formed on the immense value of the Rosary from birth. Father Peyton was so used to praying the family Rosary every night, for example, that when he left home for the first time to work and was staying with another Catholic family, he was shocked and distressed when they all went to bed without gathering to pray first. But he found the praying his own Rosary took away the pangs of homesickness, and stress. Later in his life, as he was preparing for priesthood, Father Peyton turned to Mary, and through his devotion to her, Father Peyton was miraculously healed from a debilitating disease. In response, he dedicated his life to spreading devotion to Mary. As he said, “The merit and the glory of every action I would ever perform would be hers and hers alone.” Consider a “Family Project” of praying the Rosary together as a family…. Meditations I John 3:16-18

We know love by this, that Jesus Christ laid down His life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for one another. How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a brother or sister in need and yet refused to help? Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.

Knights of Columbus - Texas State Council Sent by Douglas Oldmixon With the lingering hurricane, tornados, and unprecedented flooding along the coast of our great state, many people have lost much and some have lost everything! Many of us have family that are being impacted by the storm. We all know the tremendous power of prayer and I trust we are all praying consistently for those in most need. But most of us who are fortunate enough to not be touched by this catastrophe cannot travel to the affected area to directly assist. Even so, this is our opportunity to demonstrate the charity that evangelizes - the Freedom to Serve! The Texas State Council and State Council Charities will be helping local councils and members in many ways - funding shelter operations, feeding evacuees and response volunteers, and more. If you want to help us provide that assistance, we are accepting donations that will go directly to support victims of this disaster. Simply go to the Texas State Council webpage (www.tkofc.org) and click on the blue Donate Now button on the right side of the homepage. Then click on the Disaster Relief Fund image or the More> button under the image. And finally, click on the green Donate to Disaster Relief Fund button. This will take you to the page where you can enter credit card information to make a donation to directly assist affected families. Please be generous; we can only help others with funds donated to this cause. The State Council's funds budgeted for Disaster Relief are limited each year to about $10,000; we rely on the generosity of Brother Knights and donors in time of need. You are always faithful; we receive funds from across Texas and also our Order. Thank you and please pray with us for all of our brothers and their families in this time of loss. God bless them all with hope, and you for your charitable heart. Please forward this message to your friends, family members and fellow parishioners.

Our Grand Knight……SK Chris Anders

Brother Knights, It’s indeed an honor to serve our Council 15343 as your Grand Knight. I appreciate your vote of confidence, and pledge my utmost to serve the needs of not only our Council, but our Parish and community as well. Through the prayerfulA Word guidance From Our of Grandour Holy Knight Father, – SK and Chris Blessed Anders Mother, great things will come from our effort. But we need your help.September Support 2017 your Council, and Parish by attending our monthly meeting. United, we can do much. As you know, strong men of faith are greatly needed now. Not only as fathers and grandfathers guiding our families during these critical times, but rolling up our sleeves and helping our neighbors in need. The death and destruction following the wake of Harvey calls for all Knights to help support the needs of those that lost so much. There are many ways to help our neighbors in Houston, and the Texas coast. Go to our State K of C website (http://www.tkofc.org) and click on the ‘Donate Now’ button for the Disaster Relief. By doing so, you know your dollars will go to helping support the needs of our neighbors, and not pocketed by pilfers.

Brothers, our Santo Niño Parish have their annual San Festival this month, on Saturday (23rd) and Sunday (24th) , and Father has asked for the Knights to assist with setting up the pop-up awnings on Saturday morning at 8am, and help with the take-down on Sunday a 4pm. So, please come that weekend and help. Call me if your able to help. With several of us working, the task should only take about 45 minutes, and you can spend the rest of the day enjoying the Festival with your family.

If you are a Fourth Degree Knight, please attend Assembly 1855 meeting on Wednesday, September 14th, at 7pm, which will be held at St. Gerard Parish, located at 1609 Iowa St. Also, there is also a special meeting on Sunday, Sept. 24th at the Highland Columbus Club Hall at 5721 US Hwy 87E, and we will discuss the possibly of moving their meetings to one of the Parishes, and Santo Niño is one of the locations that’s being considered. So, we need our Sir Knights from Santo Niño to attend and show support.

We will be planning a fundraiser on Saturday, November 11th, at Santo Niño Parish Hall. The theme will be celebrating Thanksgiving and showing support to our Wounded Warriors. We will be asking help with food items, and selling tickets for this family event. Please come to our meeting this month, on September 28, at 7pm and more details will be provided. Thanks and God bless.

AFFORDABLE PROTECTION FOR TEMPORARY NEEDS

What is it? Term life insurance provides affordable protection to your loved ones for temporary needs. It’s simple and straightforward.

Who needs it? Knights of Columbus term life insurance may be an ideal solution for people with time-bound financial obligations who are interested in:

• Protecting your young family on a tight budget. • Shielding your family against the remaining payments on your mortgage, so that they aren’t drowning in debt or forced to move if you die unexpectedly. • Supplementing or replacing your income in case you die, so that your family can continue to live with the same level of financial comfort that they did when you were alive. • Providing funds for your children’s college education in case of the unexpected. • Enabling your loved ones to pay off your personal debt – like credit card or auto loan debt – should you pass away suddenly.

How does it work? Knights of Columbus term insurance is designed to provide you with a maximum amount of coverage at affordable and competitive rates. Unlike permanent insurance, term insurance is temporary, and is designed to expire as your financial obligations expire. Our term insurance rates are guaranteed for the life of your policy, as is the amount of money that would be paid to your family should you pass away. Term insurance is also convertible. Depending on how you and your Knights of Columbus field agent customize your term insurance policy, you can convert some or all of your insurance to permanent coverage at a later date, without providing further proof of insurability. So, if your health changes and you have an active term policy, you can secure permanent coverage that you may have otherwise have been denied. What options do I have? 10 Year Term – Cover your family for 10 years, with our Accelerator Term Insurance series, which includes a unique opportunity to increase your coverage amount by 25%, to keep up with inflation and salary increases, for an extremely low cost. 15 Year Term – Cover your family for 15 years, with our Accelerator Term Insurance series, which includes a unique opportunity to increase your coverage amount by 25%, to keep up with inflation and salary increases, for an extremely low cost. 20 Year Term – Cover your family for 20 years, with our Accelerator Term Insurance series, which includes a unique opportunity to increase your coverage amount by 25%, to keep up with inflation and salary increases, for an extremely low cost. Annual Renewable Term – Review and renew your coverage annually, with adjusted premiums and a level death benefit. Young Adult Insurance – A special product for Knights and their spouses ages 18-29 to help them start their insurance protection. Beneficiary Options You decide who you want your death benefit to go to: a spouse, children, family, a trust, or even charity. You can have more than one beneficiary, and can divide up the proceeds proportionally. Additional Features and Benefits There are a number of special features and benefits – often called riders – that are available on Knights of Columbus products, such as the full conversion rider, which gives you the option to convert your Accelerator Term Insurance to permanent coverage.
