Girl Scout Staff Green Appreciation Week

Thank you Girl Scout staff! It's been a unique year, but our staff has worked hard remotely and just finished another successful cookie season, proving that once again Girl Scouts of all ages (including those that are staff) are resilient and adaptive. This month, we celebrate you with Girl Scout Staff Green Appreciation Week, April 19-23! We will be kicking off the week with a staff meeting and investiture ceremony on Monday, followed by daily activities to connect and reflect, then close the week with a rededication ceremony on Friday. On behalf of the Wellness Committee, we hope you can join us for some fun Girl Scout spirit this week.

A couple other notes: • All the activities beyond the Monday all-staff meeting are optional and do not count as work time. • Note that any scheduled activity includes Zoom information to join virtually and the contact information for staff hosting the activity for questions. • If you are a new staff person hired since April 2019, check your mail for a Girl Scout membership pin heading your way to be used at the 4/19 investiture ceremony! • Girl Scout SWAG! Please visit your regional office prior to April 19 to pick up a GSCO branded water bottle and lunch box. Denver staff check your desk for these goodies, other offices check with your regional manager for where to find supplies in the office.

MONDAY, APRIL 19 ➢ 1 p.m.: All-staff meeting and investiture ceremony for new staff. Make sure to have you Girl Scout membership pin ready if you are a new staff person! Zoom information in the Outlook calendar invitation. We will spend part of this meeting on statewide updates before the investiture ceremony. o Show your Girl Scout pride! Show your love and support of Girl Scouting by wearing your Girl Scout pin, Girl Scout shirt, camp T-shirt or green and be qualified for a chance receive $25 credit to be used at the GSCO shop!

➢ 5 p.m.: Virtual Happy Hour & Cooking Class (optional) o Zoom Link: https://zoom.us/j/96657292829 (Password: 064100) o Join Vantasia for a virtual cooking class to make strawberry funnel cakes and strawberry / mango daquiris! (non-alcoholic options too). Check out the recipe here and come prepared with all the ingredients listed and space in your kitchen for frying. Ways to LOVE Girl Scouts today: • Spice up your home cooking by asking a fellow Girl Scout for a new recipe. Connect with one of your coworkers and have them share a favorite food or drink recipe with you. Then, you can provide one for them in return! • Find a Girl Scout Badge that suits your personal interests and try out completing one of the badge steps for yourself. • Send a note of appreciation to a coworker who has helped you in the past year.

TUESDAY, APRIL 20 ➢ Social Media Challenge – upload any one of the pictures below to the Girl Scout staff green appreciation week folder linked here! a. Post a photo from your first day or year at the company compared to now. b. Take a screenshot in unlikeliest Zoom meeting spot. c. Take a picture of your work-from-home space and share how you have made a “home office” space that works for you during this time. d. Take a picture with a favorite plant, cuddly pet, or fun family member “coworker” who is always there to keep you company during your workday.

Ways to be a Go - Getter today • Set a goal to achieve a big objective or work project. Create a plan to work hard to make it happen. • Create a motivational mantra to help you get back up and try again when you fall down. • Give your eyes a break and step away from your screen for 10 minutes. Try to use the moment to meditate, get outside, walk, or do some active stretching. • It’s time for spring cleaning! Ways to be an Innovator today • Solve a problem in a creative way. Girl Scouts innovate to find unique solutions. Find an imaginative solution to an everyday or community problem. • Learn a new skill. Practice a skill that will help you explore something you’ve always wanted to try. Maybe even earn a badge while you’re at it!

THURSDAY, APRIL 22 ➢ Hiking Meetup & Trail Clean up: It’s Earth Day! Enjoy the beautiful Colorado outdoors and make the world a better place by meeting up with a couple of co-workers to hike and clean up the trail along the way. Take some time out of your week to go on a walk in your favorite park or on your favorite trail and make it pretty. How can we make it pretty? Bring rubber gloves, garbage bags, maybe even tongs and help clean up your favorite local trails! Staff should follow all GSCO COVID-19 guidelines for in-person activities, included social distancing and groups of less than 10 on the trail.

Way to be a Risk-Taker today ➢ Make a promise to stop saying “can’t”. Think about the times you’ve said “I can’t do (something)”. Write a note to remind yourself to take safe risks and try. ➢ Do something new. Girl Scouts explore the world around them. Push your boundaries and do something you’ve never done before.

FRIDAY, April 23 ➢ 2 p.m.: Wrap up Girl Scout Staff Green Appreciation week and re-dedication ceremony. Zoom information in the outlook calendar invitation.
