FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Veronica Helgeland 951.955.5835 Loverboy – Worth “Working for the Weekend” Indio, Ca FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Veronica Helgeland 951.955.5835 Loverboy – Worth “Working for the Weekend” Indio, Ca- The Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival welcomes the multi- Platinum 80’s rock band, Loverboy, to the Fantasy Springs Concert Pavilion on Monday, February, 16, 2009 at 8:00pm. In 1980, Loverboy introduced themselves to the world from Calgary, Canada. They quickly became one of America’s most popular rock bands in the early 80’s with such hits as “Turn Me Loose” and “Working for the Weekend.” Within a year, Loverboy found themselves playing on mega tours with bands such as Journey, Bob Segar, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Def Leppard, to name a few; they quickly became MTV darlings, being one of the first bands ever featured on the music channel. After nine years of being ruled by Loverboy’s demanding agenda, they decided to take a rest from the band in 1989. Three short years later, they found themselves re- uniting to help raise money for a cancer-stricken friend of theirs. Unrehearsed, the band hit the stage running. Loverboy formed again and paced themselves with their own tour itinerary around Western Canada; back to doing what they loved. Now known for their generation of anthems and party songs, Loverboy has celebrated 28 years together while achieving huge accomplishments along the way. Four out of their 8 albums are multi-platinum, while the others rank just below. Much success has been awarded to Loverboy; they have definitely been “Loving Every Minute of It.” The 63rd Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the desert’s leader in gaming and entertainment. The Fair, in Indio, runs February 13-22, 2009. Gates open at 10:00 a.m. and close at 10:00 p.m. General admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for group bus tours, $6 for youth and no cost for children under 5 years of age. Infinite cameras and recording devices operate in perpetual motion, disregarding the laws of base physics, lodged in dirty public restrooms, chiseled between the standard-issue Gideon copies of the Upanishads, implicit in the dank of multi-level bureaucracies, surgically implanted into cyborg tsetse flies and malaria mosquitoes. Lisa Gardner PROLOGUE “In the U.S., the dangerous spiders include the Widows and the Recluse Spiders.” From “Spiders and Their Kin,” by Herbert W. and Lorna R. Levi, a Golden Guide from St. Martin’s Press, 2002 He was moaning, a guttural sound in the back of his throat as his fingers tightened their grip in her hair. She curled her lips over her teeth, applying more pressure. His hips surged and he started with the usual stream of nonsense boys liked to murmur during a time like this: “Sweet Jesus… oh, God. Don’t stop. You’re so beautiful. OhmyGod, ohmyGod. You are the best! Oh Ginny, Ginny, Ginny. Sweet Ginny…” She wondered if he could hear himself speak, if he had any idea of what he said. That sometimes he compared to her saints. That he told her she was gorgeous, beautiful, a dark Georgian rose. That once, he’d even told her he loved her. A guy would say anything at a time like this. © Lisa Gardner. All rights reserved. Page 1 www.lisagardner.com Lisa Gardner The gear shift was digging into her hip, starting to hurt. She moved her right hand to the top of his jeans, and worked them lower on his thighs. Another small shift here, the boy now made a gurgling sound as if he were dying. “Holy mother of God! Jesus, Ginny. Beautiful, beautiful, Ginny. Sweet…mother…pretty…lovely… You are killing me! You are killing me! YOU ARE KILLING ME!” Oh for heaven’s sake, she thought, get on with it.
