It is requested that the Visiting Company provide a schedule in advance for the coming week. If there is no performance or work in the theatre the stagedoor will remain closed. TELEPHONES / INTERNET Telephones can be installed in all company offices, most dressing rooms and the orchestra level of the auditorium. Contact the Executive Assistant to make all telephone arrangements. There is a weekly fee of $50.00 per telephone. Wired and Wireless internet access is available in the basement level, auditorium and stage level of the theatre. There is a weekly fee of $75.00 for internet access. CONCESSIONS All Front of House food and beverage services are provided by an exclusive Vendor. All Backstage Beer, Wine and Spirits must be provided by our concessionaire. MERCHANDISE Lobby Space is available for Merchandise Sales. Storage for all merchandise is available in the basement of the Theatre in a lockable space. THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES The Company Merchandiser is responsible for hiring its own sales team. The Opera House reserves the right to verify inventory on a weekly basis and will collect a commission on all merchandise sold. Merchandise commission will be negotiated at the time of contract in advance of the show’s arrival. The merchandiser is responsible for collecting and paying Massachusetts sales tax. The tax rate is 5% on all non-clothing items. NON THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES For all Non-Theatrical Performances EMI is the exclusive vendor of Tour Merchandise. During performances or performance Weeks, the box office remains open until ½ after the evening curtain. Sundays the box office opens at 12 noon and closes at 6pm or ½ after curtain, whichever is later. In the event that there is an early Matinee the box office will open earlier. DIRECTIONS TO THE OPERA HOUSE (By Automobile or Public Transportation) The OPERA HOUSE is located in downtown Boston. The theatre is conveniently located on three major subway routes, and is surrounded by numerous parking lots and indoor parking garages. ¾ FROM THE NORTH: Take 93 South to exit 22 (the South Station / Chinatown Exit). At the first set of lights, take a right onto Kneeland Street. Follow Kneeland for four sets of lights. At the fourth set, take a right onto Washington Street. The theatre is 2 ½ blocks up on the left hand side. ¾ FROM THE SOUTH: Take 93 north to exit 20A (the South Station / Chinatown Exit - DO NOT take Exit 20 to Logan Airport). At the first set of lights, take a left onto Kneeland Street. Follow Kneeland for four sets of lights. At the fourth set, take a right onto Washington Street. The theatre is 2 ½ blocks up on the left hand side. ¾ FROM THE WEST: Take the Mass Pike (90 East). Follow signs for the Prudential Center Copley Square (exit #22), staying to the right for Copley Square. The exit merges above ground with Stuart Street. Continue traveling straight on Stuart Street for five sets of lights. At the fifth set of lights, take a left onto Charles Street. Take the next right onto Boylston Street. Go through two sets of lights. At second set, take a left onto Washington Street. The theatre is 1 ½ blocks up on the left hand side. ¾ PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: Take the Green line to the “Boylston Stop.” You will come out at the corner of Tremont and Boylston Streets. Walk eastward on Boylston, away from the Boston Common for one block. Turn left onto Washington Street. The theatre is 1 ½ blocks on your left. - or - Take the Orange line to the “Chinatown” Stop. You will come out onto Washington Street. Turn north bound toward Downtown Crossing and walk 1 ½ blocks. The theatre is 1 ½ blocks up on the left hand side. DIRECTIONS TO THE OPERA HOUSE (By Truck) ¾ Directions by truck are available under separate cover. - 4 - OPERA HOUSE BUILDING GUIDLINES ¾ All activities must comply with the State of Massachusetts and City of Boston Fire Codes and Building Regulations. (See Pages 10 – 11) ¾ All Boston Fire Department submissions must be processed through the Opera House Production Department. ¾ Boston Board of Fire Prevention requires an “audible announcement” prior to each “non-continuous program”. This announcement “shall be made not more than ten minutes prior to the start of each program to notify occupants of the locations of the exits to be used in case of a fire or other emergency.” ¾ All fire exits, doors, aisles and alleys must be kept clear and properly lit at all times. ¾ Smoking is prohibited in all public buildings. (See page 12). ¾ All signs, displays and other material are subject to the approval of the theatre manager. ¾ Parking of any vehicle on Mason Street is prohibited. In addition, there is no parking permitted at the Loading dock. ¾ Access to the Box Office is prohibited without the permission of the box office manager. ¾ All company, cast and crew must enter and exit via the stage door. A guest list must be provided for guest access to the backstage area.
