‘THE BEACH HOUSE’ Cast Bios ANDIE MacDOWELL (Lovie Rudland) – Andie MacDowell has established herself as an accomplished actress and spokesperson with worldwide recognition. On the big screen, MacDowell earned the worldwide title of #1 female box-office draw with her performances in the smash hit romantic comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral, for which she received a Golden Globe® nomination, and the western Bad Girls with Drew Barrymore. She also starred alongside Bill Murray in Harold Ramis’s holiday classic Groundhog Day, which was recently inducted into the Library of Congress’s National Film Registry. In other comedies MacDowell continued to partner with top leading men including Gerard Depardieu in Green Card, for which she again earned a Golden Globe® nomination, Michael Keaton in Multiplicity and John Travolta in Michael. She first received critical acclaim and accolades for her performance as a repressed young wife in Steven Soderbergh’s sex, lies and videotape. The film won the Palme d'or at Cannes and garnered MacDowell the Independent Spirit Award and the Los Angeles Film Critics Award for Best Actress as well as her first Golden Globe® nomination. Additionally, she has been presented with the coveted Cesar D’Honneur for her body of work, the Golden Kamera Award from Germany’s Horzu Publications and the Taormina Arte Award for Cinematic Excellence. MacDowell’s dramatic feature performances have included The End of Violence, directed by Wim Wenders, which was selected to screen at the opening of the 50th Anniversary of the Cannes Film Festival; Robert Altman’s The Player and Short Cuts, for which the cast earned a special Golden Globe® Award for Best Ensemble and a Special Volpi Cup Award at the Venice Film Festival; Unstrung Heroes, directed by Diane Keaton and the hit St. Elmo’s Fire. MacDowell was recently seen alongside Josh Brolin and Jeff Bridges in Only the Brave and alongside Channing Tatum in Warner Bros’ Magic Mike XXL. Additional film credits include 2011’s Footloose, Monte Carlo and the indie feature Mighty Fine, with Chazz Palminteri and her own daughter Rainey Qualley. MacDowell can next be seen in Sundance Selects’ Love After Love, an arthouse drama that observes how a family processes grief and a new comedy for Netflix, The Last Laugh, opposite Chevy Chase and Richard Dreyfuss. On the small screen, MacDowell starred for three seasons in Hallmark Channel’s #1 series, “Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove,” in which she portrayed Judge Olivia Lockhart, a respected small-town municipal court judge who considers leaving the beautiful lake town where she raised her family to take a federal judgeship. MacDowell also starred in the Hallmark Channel Original Movie “At Home in Mitford.” Previously MacDowell was featured on the ABC Family series “Jane by Design” and starred in the Lifetime movies, “At Risk” and “The Front,” both based on Patricia Cornwell crime novels. She earned praise for her performance in the Emmy® nominated HBO original film “Dinner with Friends,” and co-starred with Rosie O’Donnell in the CBS telefilm “Riding the Bus with My Sister,” directed by Anjelica Huston. MacDowell has served as the national spokesperson for both The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and the American Heart Association. Additionally, in her continued efforts to bring awareness to preserving nature, MacDowell has supported the Tree Farmers of America with a national awareness campaign and put two thousand acres of her Montana ranch in a conservation easement with the Montana Land Reliance in her effort to preserve Montana’s natural habitat. MacDowell currently sits on the board of the National Forest Foundation. MacDowell began her career as a model and appeared in international ad campaigns for brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Vassarette, Armani perfume, Sabeth-Row and Bill Blass. Since 1986, MacDowell has been the global spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris cosmetics and hair products. Her long-standing relationship with the brand has made history as the longest consecutive relationship between a beauty brand and spokesmodel. # # # MINKA KELLY (Caretta “Cara” Rudland) - Minka Kelly’s career includes a variety of respected works across film and television. She most recently booked the series regular role of Dove in the DC Comics television series “Titans.” In film she will next be seen alongside Henry Cavill and Alexandra Daddario in Nomis written and directed by David Raymond. Last fall, Kelly appeared in the Jason Katims Universal Television/Hulu Original Series “The Path,” alongside Aaron Paul and Michelle Monaghan. Kelly’s credits include The Butler directed by Lee Daniels as the American icon, Jacqueline Kennedy, Neil LaButte’s “Full Circle” for Direct TV, The Kingdom directed by Peter Berg, 500 Days of Summer directed by Marc Webb and many others. Kelly won the hearts of audiences as Lyla Garrity on NBC’s hit show, “Friday Night Lights.” Her success in television continued with a significant recurring role as a behavioral therapist to children with Asperger’s Syndrome in another NBC hit, “Parenthood.” Her other television work includes “Man Seeking Woman,” “Almost Human,” “Charlie’s Angels” and “The Path.” Kelly is also a philanthropist. After a trip to Ethiopia in 2009, she was inspired to help the countless women she met who are unable to provide for themselves and their families. She is a partner with ABLE, an organization which creates employment opportunities for women in Kenya, Ethiopia, Peru, Mexico and Nashville, Tennessee through the production and sales of clothing and accessories. In her new role as International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) ambassador, Kelly is focused on raising awareness of big cat issues such as cub handling and pseudo-sanctuaries, and advocating for federal legislation banning private ownership of big cats in the United States. # # # (more) HALLMARK CHANNEL – ‘THE BEACH HOUSE’– CAST BIOS/Page 3 CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY (Brett Beauchamps) – Chad Michael Murray first rose to prominence with recurring roles on the WB dramas “Dawson’s Creek” and “Gilmore Girls.” Following this, he landed a starring role in The WB’s “One Tree Hill,” for which he won two Teen Choice Awards. He later took on a role behind the camera both writing and directing an episode of “One Tree Hill.” Murray has starred in feature films ranging from the romantic comedies A Cinderella Story as the romantic lead opposite Hilary Duff and Freaky Friday opposite Lindsay Lohan, to the horror Movie House of Wax, for which he won another Teen Choice Award. Murray took on dramatic feature film work in the war drama Home of the Brave, which starred Samuel L. Jackson and Jessica Biel, and in a lead role in the critically acclaimed drama Fruitvale Station with Michael B. Jordan and Octavia Spencer. Recently, he starred in the drama Other People’s Children and the western Outlaws and Angels. In addition to his early television work in teen dramas, Murray starred in CMT’s original series “Sun Records” and had a recurring role on Marvel’s “Agent Carter” on ABC.
