Total Eclipse of the Heart
Cover Total Eclipse of the Heart by Flamingo Illustrated by Suzan Lovett Edited by Barbara D., Elaine H., and Kath Moonshine. Originally published as a zine on October 1, 2001 by Flamingo ___________________________________________________________ New Intro, 2020: It's startling to go back and look through these 19-year-old files as I get ready to post an updated version of Total Eclipse of the Heart online. While it has been online since I first started writing it, its formatting was designed for 28 baud modems not the high speed internet of today. I wrote the original intro right after the events of 9/11, something I'd forgotten about; looking back, I'm surprised the task actually got done in time for ZebraCon that year. It was a big zine and producing one was something I'd never done before. Posting it as it was being written was also something new. Getting it printed provided even more drama, as the woman who offered to produce it through the professional printing company she worked for nearly lost her job over the zine's content. I was warned it wouldn't sell since it was already available on line, but it did, quite well. Over the years, fans' affection for this story has been more than encouraging and has been one of the many factors that has kept me active in Starsky and Hutch fandom for over 20 years. I am cheered to know that many of the friends I've listed in the original intro are still in my life, though some, sadly, like Rosemary and our friend Mel, have passed away. -

The Expositor's Bible
the; BOOK OF EXODUS BY THE RIGHT REV. 3- A. CHADWICK, D.D., Bishop of Derry AUTHOR OF "THE GOSPEL OF ST. MARK," ETC NEW YORK C. ARMSTRONG AND SON 3 and 5 West Eighteenth Street London: Hodder and Stoughton 1903 PREFACE. MUCH is now denied or doubted, within the Church itself, concerning the Book of Exodus, which was formerly accepted with confidence by all Christians. But one thing can neither be doubted nor denied. Jesus Christ did certainly treat this book, taking it as He found it, as possessed of spiritual authority, a sacred scripture. He taught His disciples to regard it thus, and they did so. Therefore, however widely His followers may differ about its date and origin, they must admit the right of a Christian teacher to treat this book, taking it as he finds it, as a sacred scripture and invested with spiritual authority. It is the legitimate subject of exposition in the Church. Such work this volume strives, howler imper- fectly, to perform. Its object is to edify in the first place, and also, but in the second place, to inform. Nor has the author consciously shrunk from saying what seemed to him proper to be said because the utterance would be unwelcome, either to the latest critical theory, or to the last sensational gospel of an hour. But sines controversv has not been sought, b PREFACE. although exposition has not been suppressed when it carried weapons, by far the greater part of the volume appeals to all who accept their Bible as, in any true sense, a gift from God. -

The Inside By: Hannah Shlaferman David Means, Full Year 2017 Ping Pong Our mother’s condition determined my sister’s name and mine. My mother, in one of her states of blissful mania, named my sister after a flower. Marigold: the golden blossom, bursting out from its center in vibrant color. The image stands clear in my mind from the first marigold I ever saw. It was in our neighbor’s yard, a whole bed of flowers. Their orange and yellow heads stood out bright against the green of their leaves. Mom picked one for me and held it up to my nose for a sniff. It wasn’t like the sweet smell of most flowers, instead it was musty, sharp, alluring and unpleasant all at once. I crinkled my nose and then watched, fascinated, as mom brought the flower to her giant protruding belly. Holding the marigold by its green stem, she swirled the petals in a circle on her stomach. The movement was slow at first but then became rapid. The flower began to sag. -

Bennett's Wordfinder
Bennett’s Wordfinder A handy companion to the second edition of the world’s most famous book on modern English usage Introduction It is frustrating when you cannot find information that you think must be in the second edition (1965) of the world’s most famous book on modern English usage (which, for reasons made necessary by law, I shall call that book). I made this word finder to help you find words that are not listed alphabetically in that book. The word abdomen is listed in its natural place in that book, so it is pointless to include abdomen in this word finder. If you want to know something about the word referral, however, you will not be able to find it listed under the r’s in that book. This word finder includes the word referral, and it asks you to look under the article headed -al nouns. Always look in that book first. If Fowler listed a word alphabetically, that word is probably not listed in this word finder. Sometimes a word will appear in this word finder as well as appearing in alphabetical order in that book. This means I have found another reference to the word that you may not have found by looking at the alphabetical listing in that book only; protagonist, for example, appears seven times. Two square brackets after a word mean that I have inserted something I thought would help you. (For example, immoral]] refers the reader to amoral even though immoral is not mentioned in that book under amoral.) You will find many words repeated rather than being listed once with several references being set off, as in most indexes.
