Poor hygienic Samastipur vii. Food Poisoning 33 1 12/07/13 17/07/13 control conditions were observed in the village. Cases consumed food (fish) in community festival. Temporary medical camp organized. Cases treated. Bihar Cases of vomiting, headache and unconsciousness among children after consuming mid day meal were reported from Navshrigit Prathmik Vidyalaya, Village Gandaman, near Dharmshati Bazar, Block/District Saran. District RRT investigated the outbreak. As per information, contaminated oil Under 21/22 was used for cooking vegetable for mid day meal. Organic Saran viii. Food Poisoning 38 22 16/07/13 surveilla July 2013 phosphorous was found to be mixed in food. Further lab tests are nce going on for final confirmation. All 38 cases were admitted in Sadar Hospital, Chapra/Saran in critical condition. Afterwards cases were referred to PMCH Patna. The detail of this outbreak was received from SSO Bihar. Investigation is still open. The matter is being investigated by State Authorities and Police. Outbreak of loose motion and vomiting reported from Village/SC Nari, Block Kurud, District Dhamtari. A team from Municipal Corporation was sent to provide supply of safe drinking water in the affected area. Cases of loose motions & vomiting reported from Village Moramball, SC Ravaliya, PHC Chetersumba, Block Thasra, District Kheda due to consumption of contaminated water (pipeline leakage). District RRT and Block health team investigated the outbreak. House to house survey done. xii. Acute Diarrhoeal Under Clustering of cases of was found near the water pipe line leakage. Kheda Disease 14 0 17/07/13 17/07/13 control Cases were treated symptomatically. Pipeline leakages repaired. Gujarat ORS packets & chlorine tablets distributed in the locality. 2 stool samples collected which showed growth of no pathogen. 2 water samples collected were non potable (H2S strip test). Health education given regarding safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation. Cases of loose motion & vomiting reported from madarsa students of DUFM educational & charitable trust, Village Naliya, Under Kutch xiii. Food Poisoning 20 0 19/07/13 19/07/13 PHC Tera, Block Abdasa-lakhpat, District Kutch. Block health control team investigated the outbreak. Cases were treated at CHC Naliya. Sample not collected. IEC done. Cases of loose motion, vomiting, nausea and pain abdomen reported from Village Achisara, PHC Simali, Block Shinor, District Vadodara. District RRT visited the affected area. House to house survey done. Cases presented with the above symptoms Under Vadodara xiv. Food Poisoning 18 0 15/07/13 15/07/13 after 6 hours of consuming milk item in lunch. Cases treated control symptomatically. 7 cases treated at CHC Motafofaliya. 1 water sample collected was unfit for drinking purpose (H2S strip test). Chlorination of water sources done. P.) INDIA aApplied Chemistry Department, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, BHOPAL - 462005 (M. P.) INDIA ABSTRACT Fluoride is most electronegative and most reactive halogen. Fluorid e in the form of fluorine is 17 th most common element on earth crust 1. Concentration of fluoride below 1 ppm are believed beneficial in the prevention of dental carries or tooth decay, but above 1.5 ppm, it increases the severity of the deadly diseases fluorosis, which is incurable in India 2. This paper alarm the latest scenario of fluorosis pollution in fifteen district of Madhya Pradesh, Indi a. All water samples were taken for study from hydrograph stations in Madhya Pradesh. Fluoride in groundwater samples was found to range between nil to 14.20 ppm, while 33 % of water samples are within permissible limit of 1.5 ppm prescribed by BIS (1991). The highest value of fluoride (14.20 ppm) has been recorded at Seoni district in southern part of state. In western part, 13.86 ppm fluoride has been found in Jhabua district. In northern part, the high range of fluoride affects Gwalior and Shivpuri distr ict. In central part of the province, 4.43 ppm concentration of fluoride was found at Vidisha district. This study was done in year 2006 and the maximum and minimum concentrations of fluoride are shown in different districts. The conclusion of this work is to give information about the deleterious changes of fluoride concentration in groundwater of the state.

Gadekar Department of Zoology, Dhote Bandhu Science College, Gondia _____________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT Ichthyofaunal diversity of Wainganga river in District Bhandara of Maharashtra, India was conducted to assess the fish fauna. The ichthyofaunal of a reservoir basically represents the fish faunal diversity. The present investigation deals with the ichthyofaunal diversity in Wainganga river, Bhandara during the year January 2012 to December 2013. The results of present study reveal the occurrence of total 51 species were identified among those, 22 were of order Cypriniformes, 10 of Siluriformes, 06 of Ophiocephaliformes, 05 of Synbranchiformes, 03 of Perciformes, 02 each of Cyprinodontiformes and Clupeiformes and 01 of Anguilliformes. Nearly one fourth of the total population of the state is inhabited by tribals such as Baigas, Gonds, Korku , etc. tribes. An ethno-medico-botanical survey among different tribal pockets of Balaghat district, viz. Gangulapara, Lamta, Laugur, Langi, Baihar, Bithali, Lalbarra, etc. was carried out during the year 2007-2008 and folklore information was collected on 50 medicinal plants species belonging to 50 genera and 31 families with the help of tribal medicine men. Out of 50 plants, 15 predominant plants used in refractory diseases such as cancer, malaria, rheumatism, liver disorders and respiratory diseases, etc. These uses are not reported in earlier published literatures.
