With over 2300 livestock expected at the 2014 Dutchess County Fair, a sure bet for hours of free entertainment is a trip to Livestock Hill. Cows, sheep, goats, chickens, llamas, horses and other beautiful animals are all on display and vying for ribbons in the ongoing Livestock shows. Check the schedule in the fairgrounds brochure or at www.dutchessfair.com and head to the barns and show arenas for an educational and heartwarming series of events. The Dutchess County Fair open for its six-day run on August 19. Hundreds of Arts and Crafts exhibits are on display in Building E . Each department has chosen their own theme this year including “Harvest of the Hudson Valley” and “ Backyard Paradise”. The ever popular Mad Science shows, Oscar the Robot and the Frogs, Bugs and Animals show have multiple performances daily. There are also childrens' hands on activities and demonstrations of woodcarving, quilting and rug hooking. The schedule for shows in Bldg. E is posted each day at the buildings entrance. Hilby, the Skinny German Juggle Boy, is located at map #24 and has scheduled showtimes of 2, 4 and 6:30pm daily. The Penn Dixie Band will be on parade at 11am, 1, 3, 4:30 and 6pm and Rosaires (not to be missed) Racing pigs (map # 49) race at 10:15am and 2, 4, 6:30 and 9:15pm.
