Pada masa ini, stok liar telah digunakan untuk ternakan pengeluaran benih di kebanyakan tempat di Malaysia. Walau bagaimanapun, pengambilan stok liarsecara berterusan akan mengakibatkan kepupusan dan kehilangan kepelbagaian genetik. Oleh itu adalah penting bagi seseorang mempunyai kepekaan terhadap maklumat genetik untuk tujuan pemuliharaan dan pembiakan. Kajian ini menggunakan teknik RAMS untuk menghasilkan penanda lokus mikrosatelit tunggal. Sebanyak 13 kawasan mikrosatelit telah dikesan. Hasil kajian menujukkan kejayaan menggunakan teknik ini untuk memperoleh mikrosatelit dalam M. rosenbergii. Kajian ini akan diteruskan untuk mencari klonyang mengandungi mikrosatelit dan mereka bentuk primer bagi setiap kawasan mikrosatelit. Jujukannya adalah sama dengan dua spesies lain iaitu ikan zebra dan Perna viridis. Kewujudan persamaan pada kedua-dua spesies (ikan Zebra dan Perna viridis) akan digunakan sebagai 'model* bagi M. rosenbergii untuk masa hadapan. ABSTRACT Prawns of the genus Macrobrachium Bate, 1868 (Crustacea: Palaemonidae) are a highly diverse group of decopod crustaceans found in circumtropical marine-, estuarine- and freshwaters. At present, wild stocks have been used to cultivate commercial cultures in many areas in Malaysia. Such repeated harvesting from wild stocks, however, will eventually lead to extinction and loss of genetic diversity. Therefore, it is important to know the genetic make up of these wild stocks in order to manage the populations for conservation and breeding purposes. In the present study, a novel method known as Random Amplified Microsatellites (RAMS) was used to develop single locus microsatellite markers. A total of 13 microsatellite regions were detected. The findings of this study showed a successful detection of the microsatellite sequences in M. rosenbergii using RAMS. This study will be continued to identify more clones that contain microsatellite sequences and to design the forward and reverse primers for each microsatelite region. B. Frank in 1877, based on the genus Davallia. It contains about 150 species in 8-12 genera and is restricted to the Old World tropics and subtropics. They are mostly epiphytes with long creeping fleshy rhizomes covered with peltate scales. In Peninsular Malaysia, the Davallioid ferns belong to Davallia Sm., Humata Cav., Leucostegia C. Presl and Araiostegia Copel. (Parris & Latiff, 1997). This study used morphological, cytological and molecular (three chloroplast regions) data in an attempt to classify Davalliaceae, especially in Peninsular Malaysia. The results presented in this thesis showed moderate to strong support for the paraphyly of genera in Davalliaceae, especially in Peninsular Malaysia. The results were incongruent with the latest classification based on morphology (Nooteboom, 1998) but congruent with a global study based on molecular data. The phylogeny showed that Leucostegia doest not belong to Davalliaceae. Four major clades were recognised in Davalliaceae, namely the Araiostegia Clade (AC); Davallia with two clades: Davallia Clade I (denticulata clade and dimorpha-divaricata clade), Davallia Clade II (scyphularia-solida clade and trichomanoides clade) and the Humata clade (HC). Maximum parsimony and Bayesian analyses of rps4 + rps4-trnS IGS and combined three regions produced congruent topologies, but the topologies ofrbcL and trnL-F region produced only slight differences. The expanded rbcL data also showed that all species were fully resolved without having a separated/regional clade.

Using field investigation in combination with analysis of relevant literature and available data, this paper presents the study of botanical exploration and investigation in forest area of Garo Hills, Meghalaya. Results indicated that Garo Hills had abundance of indigenous Orchidaceae and Zingiberaceae family flora which exhibits wide range of diversity in terms of taxa, habit and growth forms. This study identified 16 species belonging to Orchidaceae family and 10 species belonging to Zingeberaceae family with potential artistic ornamental value. The distinguishing features of these indigenous plants, their characteristics and habits were analyzed. The ornamental potential of most plants are its flowers. We hope that this work will help the researchers and people, who are interested in wild indigenous Orchidaceae and Zingiberaceae flowers. Using plastid matK, psaB, rbcL, and trnH-psbA DNA sequences and morphological evidence, the phylogenetic relationships within the tribe Collabieae were assessed as a basis for revising their tribal and generic delimitation. Collabieae (including the previously misplaced mycoheterotrophic Risleya) is supported as monophyletic and nested within a superclade that also includes Epidendreae, Podochileae, Cymbidieae and Vandeae. Risleya is nested in Collabiinae and sister to Chrysoglossum, a relationship which, despite their great vegetative differences, is supported by floral characters. Ania is a distinct genus supported by both morphological and molecular evidence, while redefined Tainia includes Nephelaphyllum and Mischobulbum. Calanthe is paraphyletic and consists four clades; the genera Gastrorchis, Phaius and Cephalantheropsis should be subsumed within Calanthe. Calanthe sect. Ghiesbreghtia is nested within sect. Calanthe,to which the disputed Calanthe delavayi belongs as well.
