Present Population on the Islands 3,011 (96%) 118 (4%) Some 3,100 refugees and asylum- seekers reside on Samos. Of those, 3,000 (96%) reside in Vathy Reception Vathy RIC Other** and Identification Centre (RIC). The majority of the population on the island are from Syria(32%), Afghanistan Syrian 32% (23%) and Dem Rep of the Congo (14%). Afghanistan 23% Boys Women account for (19%) of the (10%) population, and children for (21%) of Girls Dem. Rep. of whom nearly 8 out of 10 are younger the Congo 14% (11%) than 12 years old.
