Nodyn | Note Tre-faes Uchaf, , Cardiganshire, was occupied by the Phillips family by the mid-19th century. John Phillips died c. 1855; his widow Charlotte and son John still lived there in 1876. John the younger's son, Richard Phillips, lived at Argoed, , by 1882. In 1829, Evan James (died 1875) of Grip, Llanddeiniol, had bought land from Augustus Brackenbury, as did his father-in-law, David Jones. Richard Phillips married Evan James' daughter and they had several children, including Dr Richard Phillips and Mary Phillips ([1887]-1969), who lived at Bow Street, Cardiganshire.
