Postgame Quotes Nashville Predators vs. Philadelphia Flyers Predators Quotes Head Coach Peter Laviolette On Viktor Arvidsson’s return from injury and the recent injuries… The injuries have been substantial, it’s not a two-game thing, or a five- to seven-day thing; they’ve been substantial injuries. With that comes recovery of the body and also the conditioning and the timing of the game. I thought he came back and played a good first game and then from there, I think it’s been a build-up where he’s tried to get better, he’s pushing himself, you see how important he is out there tonight with his speed, and his work ethic, his ability to score goals and make a difference in the game. The line was really good, especially in the second and third period. On Juuse Saros trending in the right direction… Well tonight he was terrific, let’s be honest. He made all the ones he was supposed to, and then he made some ‘wow’ saves in there as well where they got behind us. Recently we’ve played a lot of teams really strong off the rush. Washington, Dallas, the Rangers and I think Philadelphia, a couple times here, they’re a rush team. They’re able of attacking, they fly guys capable of getting behind you, and they did. We needed saves there and he made them. On how the team can continue their recent success… I’m usually pretty honest, I told you that the two losses before the win, I hated the result. I didn’t mind the effort that our guys put in and the pucks we were putting at the net. You’re getting 40-50 shots and you’re doing an OK job defensively and it’s just not going your way, and sometimes that happens. But if you look at the game, which we have to, there was a lot of good things that we were doing and I think these past two games have been a continuation of that and we’ve been fortunate to get a couple of wins. Right Wing Viktor Arvidsson On scoring goals tonight with his family in town… It’s fun to score. It’s a great feeling, having my mom and the family in town. I’m just happy they could be here and watch me play. On building off the win yesterday…. I think we came out a little slow in the first period; they out chanced and out shot us. In the second however, we took over and really turned it on and just kept going from there. On if he is fully healthy… I’m almost there. I feel like my legs were a little bit better under me, my timing was a bit better too. It’s hard to come back, being out six weeks, but I’m close to where I want to be and I just have to keep on working. On if this could be the start of a win streak… I hope so. We have to go on the road for a decent amount of games now and we’re going to have to really battle our way through that and pick up as many points as we possibly can. It’s going to be fun to get on the road. On Rocco Grimaldi… He works his (butt) off out there and really competes for pucks. He gets pucks to the net. He can create something out of nothing because he’s so explosive. Right Wing Rocco Grimaldi On if they were able to build off yesterday’s win… We were, except for the first period; coach came in and wasn’t very happy at first and neither were we. We talked about not wanting to be a one hit wonder having six in a row and then you win one game and turn everything around but then you lay an egg. Saros held us in the game; he stopped two different breakaways throughout the game. He held us in and then our guys got going and putting more pucks to the net. We started shooting to score, instead of just trying to get it to the net and we were rewarded. On if they can start a winning streak now… Of course, we think that but it doesn’t really matter what you think, it’s what you do. We got to have a good practice before we go to Detroit. Then we have a long road trip, playing five or six games against some really good hockey teams that are playing good right now. We have to take it one game at a time and keep building off each game. Goaltender Juuse Saros On his confidence level after a shutout win… I felt good. I’ve been practicing well and saw a lot of pucks today. We played a pretty good defense and that always helps. On having his mom in attendance for the shutout… That’s a special moment. That was probably the first time she has seen me live in an NHL game in the stands. Forward Zac Rinaldo On Viktor Arvidsson’s play since returning from injured reserve… He’s a hustler and you have to give him credit when credit is due. He works his tail off every night and he earns every point that he gets. On the Predators’ recent offensive success… We’re staying positive and getting pucks to the net. We aren’t playing blind and aren’t just throwing pucks around. We have been shooting with authority and shooting to score. We’ve also been getting the rebounds and putting pucks where they need to go. I think we’ve just been relentless in front of the net. Flyers Quotes Head Coach Scott Gordon On how the Flyers had a hot start but ultimately were outplayed… I think the four posts were a little deflating. Saros had a good game, and we had some good possessions. We had good opportunities going for us until we shot ourselves in the foot on all four goals with our lapses in decisions. We put ourselves in the wrong spots and you can’t outscore those mistakes. On if he senses tentativeness on the power play… If you compare power plays, I think you would take our power play over what they’re doing on their power play. Their team may have scored but we certainly have our good possession time, we moved the puck well, and we had some looks, but at the end of the day it’s not in the net again. Forward Travis Konecny On if this is rock bottom for the team… I think there are a lot of positives to take away from these games, and it’s hard to look at them now, but we have to keep pressing. We need to keep trying to find a better way, and if we can find it in 60 minutes, that’s how we’ll win games. Center Claude Giroux On how he did against Juuse Saros… He is a solid goalie. We had our chances but he played well tonight and we have to be better. On Flyers power plays during the game… We hit two posts and there was a lot of frustration, but we are going to keep working and hope to get back on track. Forward Sean Couturier On the game tonight… We had some good chances, we just couldn’t score. Next thing you know, we make a mistake and they get a free goal to take the lead. It’s frustrating for us right now because we didn’t capitalize on our chances and they did. On being a playoff-contending team… I believe that we are. We have the same group as last year and we are showing more will and consistency. We just need to play a little smarter and play all 60 minutes without making as many mistakes. .
