FOREWORD

Saprem Sairam!

We are indeed blessed to place this Annual Report for the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, Maharashtra & Goa for the year 2015-16 at the Divine Lotus Feet of our Beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Some of the highlights are

• Educational Wing: Parenting is an important component of balvikas. Without cooperation from the parents, it is very difficult to help the child to follow the values he/she learns in balvikas. By Bhagawan's grace, Maharashtra & Goa took a new step in the area of conducting parenting workshops and parenting meets right from State Level to District level and in turn to samithi by training individual gurus to conduct the workshops.

• Spiritual Wing: Spiritual fervor is gaining momentum with Sadhana Camps; Havans; Rudrabhishekams and Seminars and talks of eminent people with authority on the subject.

Keeping the spirit of the Sarva Dharma Samabhav teachings of our beloved Swami, multi faith events were organized at the various districts.

• Service Wing: Service activities go unabated with the medical activities including static medical camps, mobile medical vans, outdoor clinics reaching out to lakhs of poor & underprivileged people , many of who are from remote villages, at their doorsteps.. Rain Water Harvesting Methods have been deployed in about 20 villages giving very encouraging results. Bhagawan is the only source of our inspiration and guide to enable us to perform the Seva.

However, the contribution of our Seva Dal, volunteers and devotees are also immensely important to us to spread the love of Bhagawan far and wide.

We offer our sincere prayers to Bhagawan that may He make us His worthy instruments to transform our lives spiritually.

With Pranams at the Lotus Feet

Labour of Love

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has always emphasised on 'SEVA' ! …. which is 'SELFLESS’, which is ‘UNCONDITIONAL’, never discriminating on basis of caste, creed, religion, age and gender.

In fact Bhagawan has said “The rose of your heart will bloom and pour my love in this universe; only when you offer selfless seva to those in need, and in all domains of your life.”

Kumbhmela which comes after every 12 years revolving every four years in cities of Allahabad, Ujjain, Haridwar and Trambak was set up in Nashik in year 2015 which was preset to extend upto 2016.

It is said or rather believed that having a dip in this holy gathering of Kumbhmela vanishes all sins of previous and present birth. Hence, multitudes from far off distances had flocked to Sinhastha Mahakumbh in Nashik. This year tantalizing the exodus of resources of food, water, healthcare etc. in this city of pilgrimage.- NOT CLEAR

The Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Medicare Project set up by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is the basis of a mammoth seva resolution by SSSSO, Nashik, Maharashtra.

The organization in Nashik took tireless efforts to get the Medicare seva sanctioned by the local authorities who were more than happy and pleased with this divine idea of selflessly serving people and joined hands at some junctures where combined efforts from the government & organization critically handled the situation of Medicare. Dignitaries from the public sector, cabinet and Municipal Corporation along with office bearers of organization inaugurated the service project with great enthusiasm.

Customized medical vans that have won ‘CNBC TV18 Best Healthcare award 2014’ for providing medical service totally FREE OF COST were set up at 25 busy centers around the city and outskirts with doctors providing quality healthcare serving large chunk of patients. First aid along with preliminary medicines including antibiotics, antiseptics, analgesics etc. were prescribed and distributed to those requiring them without the cost of a single penny!!; by the grace of our beloved Bhagawan.

Seva was performed only selflessly by Sai doctors, paramedics, sevadals and devotees with utmost devotion from morning 8 am to evening 8 pm every single day for 30-35 days.

Some emergencies were also treated and referred to NATIONAL AMBULANCE SERVICE for further hospitalization, subject to requirement.

A Customized medical centre was set up to supply medicines of nearly 40 types daily at each of the 25 centers installed in and around the city, so that no beneficiary of love returns helpless!

Narayana seva was also performed on the ‘Shahi Snan’ days at the control room, distributing masala rice.

Daily vedam and bhajan sessions at the control room praying for the patients throughout the medical seva period.

Certain feedbacks taken from patients benefitting from this medical service labeled this seva as “Quality divine Medicare on Wheels” & “Blessing from the Divine”. Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organization, Nashik had a vision of doing atleast their microbit for serving people coming for Kumbhmela from far off places believing in the fact that, Service to man is the Service to god … this feeling was exhibited and practically manifested by the devotees by love in action, providing quality Medicare to 1,50,000 patients in record.

Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has said “Being of service to my patients is only the padnamaskar; there is nothing higher than that I can give you!” Keeping this spirit in mind devotees from all over Maharashtra worked tirelessly as sevadals (700), doctors (156) and paramedics (100) (nearly from every District of Maharashtra) part and made this project of selfless service a grand success. It was however as good as walking on thin ice in the initiation stage, but as time passed and the divine will unfolded, things fell on their right track and only perfection through medical aid was achieved. It is said when the lord of the universe wills and approves no stone is left unturned, everything he has decided is bound to happen irrespective of anything.

The Mahakumbhmela in Nashik is a living legend to this statement. We offer this seva at the divine lotus feet of our beloved Swami!! Jay Sai Ram.

 We find that many villages in Maharashtra have school drop outs and unemployed youth who look forward to some gainful employment. But due to lack of sound academic performance and lack of skill in any vocation for which there is demand, these youth languish without any meaningful pursuits during major part of the year.

 We thought of setting up a Vocational training centre ourselves for addressing this issue. But after surveying the existing institutions in this space like ITI and other private ones and also the availability of trainers and other support infrastructure and related administration issues, we felt that we should first tie up with an Institute which is already running short term Vocational training courses and mobilize the youth through our Samithis having Seva programs in villages nearby and get them trained. Thereafter after seeing the inflow of students and also the outcome of the trained students and their capability to get jobs after training, we can move to the next phase of having our own institute based on this experience if the situation demands so.

 Accordingly we informally tied up with a leading vocational training institute near Karjat Thane dist Maharashtra which is very well known in the field of vocational training and commands greater acceptability among the employers and started sending the boys from villages mobilized through our Samithis. It is a residential course with the boys from interior Maharashtra come and stay here for four months till the course is over.  They have a short term course of four months - in Welding, Electricals and AC Mechanic and at the end of the training provide a certificate.

 The first batch of 18 welders mobilised by us from interior villages of Maharashtra through our local samithi passed out in Aug 2014. There after we have been regularly mobilising boys from the villages through our local Samithis.

 Till now, in the last two years more than 260 students passed out from this institute. We also started sending a few candidates to another vocational training centre of repute run by a Private Bank. More than 60 boys have been got trained and employed from there. So in all more than 320 students got trained and most got placement offers immediately.

 Our teams constantly remain in touch with the Samithis and also counsel the shortlisted boys constantly. They get the job offers from the institute after they finish the training. Then we advise them to save and send money back home. We have many inspiring stories of the boys settling down well in jobs and sending money back home and parents calling up thanking us for showing them a direction in life. It is by Swamis abundant grace these boys are able to settle in life.

Mobile Medicare Project

 With the blessings of Bhagawan, the Sri Sathya Sai Mobile Medicare Project was launched on 20th April, 2007. The primary object project has been that of improving the health and physical well-being of the vulnerable segments of the society by providing high quality primary and preventive healthcare. The Project today has a fleet of 52 designer mobile clinics / dispensaries, fully furnished with state of the art medical equipment and till 31st March 2016, over 38,00,000 patients from the states of Maharashtra & Goa have been treated, at their doorsteps, totally free of cost. This genuine concern for the suffering of the underprivileged has also resulted in several new initiatives being constantly undertaken to further improve the facilities provided.

 One such initiative embarked during the last year has been a massive effort to fight malnutrition, particularly among women and children in the rural areas.

 To uplift the life of tribal and adivasi children, the Project has adopted several residential schools where all aspects of their life are being looked into in a planned manner.

 With the blessings of Bhagawan, mobile medical camps were held at the Sinhastha Kumbh Mela held at Nashik, Maharashtra during August-September 2015, where about 1.51 lakh pilgrims where provided free medical aid. The camps were conducted in aprofesssional manner and the local administration was highly appreciative of the service rendered by the Organisation. Bhagawan’s Messages were given wide coverage.

Excerpts from last year’s annual report is given below

 45 Mobile vans operate in the villages of Maharashtra with the objective of reaching primary healthcare facilities to the remotest corners of the state at no cost to the patient or their families. The vans are viewed as harbingers of overall development for any village as they not only provide medical assistance but also teach basic health & hygiene to children and adults. Value classes in the form of Balvikas are imparted to children. Elders are also educated on the ill effects of vices such as ‐ drinking, smoking and chewing tobacco.

As of March 2014

 Approximately 25,18,953 patients have been treated (from 2007) in 27 districts of Maharashtra & Goa covering 95 villages / slums covered by vans and additionally 450 padas, tandas, gatgram panchayats. In the FY 2013‐14,5,06,353 (5 lakh) people were

treated at the door step through these mobile vans.
