Amphiura senonensis Valette, 1915 (Echinodermata, Ophiuroidea) in vroeg-paleocene afzettingen (Danien) in de Belgische provincie Limburg. Uit een vrij klein sedimentmonster, verzameld aan de basis van de Kalksteen van Geulhem (Formatie van Houthem) langs het Albertkanaal bij Vroenhoven-Riemst (Belgisch Limburg), worden skeletelementen de senonensis beschreven geïsoleerde van slangster ? Amphiura en afgebeeld. Er dat de Kalksteen Geulhem wordt op gewezen een biostratigrafische indeling van van aan de hand het in het deze eenheid van nannoplankton en echinidengenus Tylocidaris het best stratotype van (groeve Curfs, Geulhem) opgesteld kan worden. El listado de especies incluye las formas de vida en relación con el sustrato, criptofauna o epifauna, así como su tipo de distribución en las 2 principales regiones zoogeográficas marinas para el golfo de México: Carolineana y Caribeña; se incluyen también las especies que sólo se encuentran en el golfo de México. El listado incluye 195 especies pertenecientes a 9 grupos, de los cuales Crustacea es el más diverso con 73 especies, seguido por Mollusca con 69 y Echinodermata con 18; los grupos con menor riqueza específica fueron: Chelicerata con 2 especies y Platyhelminthes y Sipuncula con una sola especie cada grupo. Del total de especies 74 son nuevos registros de localidad y 7 nuevos registros para Veracruz.

    RENCOM - Workpackage 4 - Belgian case studies: Fruit wholesales Page 1 The structuration of a free market: the case of fruit wholesales in Haspengouw1 In the Haspengouw area fruit farmers are united in co-operatives, which organise fruit wholesales and auctions. The co-operatives set up the entire infrastructure that allows for a transparent market: they guarantee the quality of the fruit; they make it quantifiable; they take care of logistics; and they set up the auctions. In line with actor-network-theory (ANT) the case illustrates the co-operation and networking that is needed between several actors in order to come to a seemingly natural situation, i.e. free trade. 1. Introduction: the fruit production in Haspengouw Geographical and political definitions of Haspengouw The definition of Haspengouw varies. Geographically, it refers to a large area of clay soil. It not only includes the south of the present Limburg province (Humid Haspengouw—area 8.4 on Figure 1 in annex) but also parts of the present provinces of Liège and Namur (Dry Haspengouw—area 8.5). The soil of Dry Haspengouw is a large bed of clay (15-20m) that rests on chalk; it is apt for agriculture. Humid Haspengouw is a bed (+ 2m) of loam that rests on clay; which makes it less apt for agriculture in general, but very apt for fruit growing (Comenius project 2004). Politically, Haspengouw once was a ‘gau’, the administrative unit in the Frankish empire. Until the eighteenth century Haspengouw used to be a county. It was part of the principality of Liege. In this text Haspengouw refers to the definition that is used by the Streekplatform Haspengouw, an organisation financed by the Flemish government and the European Commission (see Figure 2 in annex).

This process aims to achieve the Good Environmental Status (GES) through the elaborated 11 Ecological Objectives and their respective common indicators. Since 2008, Contracting Parties to the Barcelona Convention have adopted the EcAp and agreed on a roadmap for its implementation. First phases of the EcAp process led to the accomplishment of 5 steps of the scheduled 7-steps process such as: 1) Definition of an Ecological Vision for the Mediterranean; 2) Setting common Mediterranean strategic goals; 3) Identification of an important ecosystem properties and assessment of ecological status and pressures; 4) Development of a set of ecological objectives corresponding to the Vision and strategic goals; and 5) Derivation of operational objectives with indicators and target levels.

    Late Turonian ophiuroids (Echinodermata) from the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, Czech Republic RICHARD TORC & JIØÍ ÍTT Diverse ophiuroid faunules from the basal Teplice Formation, of Late Turonian age, exposed at Úpohlavy in the north- western part of the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin, northwest Bohemia, are based on only dissociated lateral arm plates, vertebrae and some other skeletal elements of the disc. The material can be ascribed to ten species, including a new taxon named Stegophiura? nekvasilovae sp. nov. Three additional species are represented in the material but these are left in open nomenclature. In this study, seven echinoderm species are reported for the first time from the Levantine coast of Turkey. These are, five ophiroid species; Amphipholis squamata, Amphiura chiajei, Amphiura filiformis, Ophiopsila aranea, and Ophiothrix quinquemaculata and two echinoid species; Echinocyamus pusillus and Stylocidaris affinis. Turkey is surrounded by four seas with different hydrographical characteristics and Turkish Straits System (Çanakkale Strait, Marmara Sea and İstanbul Strait) serve both as a biological corridor and barrier between the Aegean and Black Seas. The number of echinoderm species in the coasts of Turkey also varies due to the different biotic environments of these seas. There are 14 echinoderm species reported from the Black Sea, 19 species from the İstanbul Strait, 51 from the Marmara Sea, 71 from the Aegean Sea and 42 from the Levantine coasts of Turkey. Among these species, Asterias rubens, Ophiactis savignyi, Diadema setosum, and Synaptula reciprocans are alien species for the Turkish coasts. Email: [email protected] Manuscript received: January 2013; accepted: May 2013 Abstract We describe a collection of borings in carbonate and xylic substrates (Gastrochaenolites ispp., Teredolites longissimus Kelly & Bromley), some of them containing their producers, from the Maastricht and Houthem formations (late Maastrichtian and early Danian) in the type area of the Maastrichtian Stage, but mainly from the ENCI-HeidelbergCement Group quarry, St. Pietersberg (southern Limburg, the Netherlands). Included are specimens of Gastrochaenolites dijugus Kelly & Bromley, showing different modes of formation of the figure-of-eight aperture, either as part of the lining, incorporating the substrate or both. Gastrochaenolites lapidicus Kelly & Bromley was produced by the gastrochaenid bivalve Gastrochaena, whereas G. orbicularis Kelly & Bromley is the trace of Jouannetia supracretacea (De Ryckholt). Bioglyph-like infills of G. orbicularis and G. torpedo Kelly & Bromley rather represent external moulds of the producing bivalves; they are termed pseudobioglyphs herein. Teredolites longissimus is preserved as clusters of in situ, parallel to sub-parallel tubes, although the woody substrate has decayed, and disarticulated fragments of calcareous tubes have been released from rotten wood. The latter include some specimens filled by flint and show good three-dimensional preservation. Some notes on the taxonomy of the producing bivalve taxa are added.
