PURPOSE

The journal Landscape and Urban Planning (LAND), in collaboration with several international institutions, will host an international symposium entitled Doing real and permanent good in landscape and urban planning: Ecological wisdom for urban sustainability on October 17‐19, 2014 at the city of , China. The symposium provides an international forum for transgenerational, transphilosophical, and transdisciplianry explorations; and will feature paper presentations which will later be considered for inclusion in a special 2015 LAND issue under the same theme.

The goals for the symposium and the special issue are twofold: (1) to foster scholarship on the acquisition of ecological wisdom and its applications to the contemporary practice of landscape and urban planning; and (2) to facilitate international collaborations on ecological wisdom research.
