DK Timeline by Banzai Bill Before Donkey Kong Jr. Was Born, The DK Timeline By Banzai Bill Before Donkey Kong Jr. was born, the fierce pirate Prince Skurvy stole a magical emblem known as the Crystal Coconut and hid it in the idol of the Inka Dinka Doo,1 located on Kongo Bongo Island in the Kremisphere.2 Prince Skurvy intended the Crystal Coconut to be for his descendants,3 this but little did he know that someone else would stumble upon the power source in the distant future… Many years later, Donkey Kong Sr. and his wife Wrinkly Kong raised their infant son Donkey Kong Jr.4 Their son turned out to be a Star Child, possessive of an extraordinary amount of power and destined for great things.5 One day, an intruder from another time paid a visit to the Kongs. He was actually the adult form of Donkey Kong Jr. Inspired by Mario's ability to summon his baby self to participate in sporting events, Donkey Kong agreed to use Mario's Time Machine to do the same. As a result, Baby Donkey Kong played a series of baseball games with a bunch of strangers in the future.6 After they finished playing, Baby Donkey Kong was mistakenly clumped with Baby Mario and company back onto Mario's Time Machine. Consequently, Baby Donkey Kong was sent back to the wrong time period of a younger generation. While in this phase, some unknown apes took in the abandoned baby ape. Their aid would be short-lived, as the future Kamek would end up capturing him in his plot to use the Star Children to help the future King Bowser Koopa take over the universe. With the help of some Yoshis and other Star Children, they managed to foil King Bowser Koopa's plan. After the adventure, the storks returned Baby Donkey Kong to his adoptive parents.7 The adult Donkey Kong Jr. eventually realized that his infant self was returned to the wrong time. With Mario's Time Machine, he went back to the past, discovered the events of Yoshi's Island DS, found his infant self, and warped him back to his proper place in time. Over the years, Donkey Kong Jr. aged into a child. One day, a Brooklyn carpenter by the name of Mario8 (nicknamed “Jumpman” for his impressive jumping abilities) and his girlfriend 1 As explained in the “Legend of the Crystal Coconut” episode of the Donkey Kong Country TV series. 2 In the storyline for Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Dixie Kong swims from DK Island to the Northern Kremisphere. Donkey Kong Island is referred to as 'Kongo Bongo Island' in the Donkey Kong Country TV series. 3 As explained in the “Legend of the Crystal Coconut” episode of the Donkey Kong Country TV series. 4 Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest introduces Wrinkly Kong, Cranky Kong's wife. In the beginning of Donkey Kong 64, Cranky calls DK his son. 5 In Yoshi's Island DS, Baby Donkey Kong is a Star Child. 6 Mario Super Sluggers 7 Yoshi's Island DS 8 Mario is referred to as a Brooklynite in Mario's Time Machine, the official Mario comics, the official Mario cartoons, and other sources. The Donkey Kong arcade describes him as a carpenter. 1 Pauline9 set out for a ship voyage. They came across Kongo Bongo Island via an interdimensional rift (an example of this can be seen here). Unaware that they just crossed worlds, Mario and Pauline were amazed with the talking apes on the island. Thus, Mario set a trap and captured Donkey Kong Sr., making him his pet for his planned circus show.10 Furious, Donkey Kong easily broke out of Mario’s trap and captured Pauline to lure him to danger. Mario followed Donkey Kong into Big Ape City to battle Donkey Kong and save Pauline.11 After unplugging the girders' rivets, Mario led Donkey Kong to his fall and locked him in a cage, capturing his “pet” once again.12 Realizing that his father was captured, Donkey Kong Jr. set out to rescue him. He chased Mario through a jungle and factory before reaching a construction site, where he successfully unlocked his father's cage and destroyed the platform Mario was standing on.13 The bonk on the head gave Mario a mild case of amnesia, and he began to refer to Pauline as his niece.14 Despite his wavy memory, Mario still became determined to capture Donkey Kong for his circus. Donkey Kong Sr. and Jr. fled from Kongo Bongo Island via boat, and Mario and Pauline followed behind them, returning to the interdimensional rift, leading them all to Earth. While Donkey Kong Sr. constantly leaped ahead of Mario's traps, Donkey Kong Jr. continued to try to catch up with his father to make sure he wasn't caught.15 At the end of it all, the Kongs remained ahead and reunited as a disgruntled Mario and Pauline had no choice but to sail their ship back home. Donkey Kong Sr. and his son eventually retraced their steps and sailed back through the interdimensional rift to return home to Kongo Bongo Island. What they didn't know was that they had a stowaway: Stanley the Bugman. After witnessing the antics of the gorilla in a previous quarrel,16 the curious Stanley wanted to investigate the nature of these strangely intelligent apes. But when they sailed by Juicy Jungle, Stanley's green thumb nature couldn't help but marvel at the miraculously huge produce. He claimed a greenhouse by a fruit factory to care for some flowers.17 Enraged to see a human sneak back to his homeland, Donkey Kong Sr. broke into Stanley the Bugman's greenhouse, stirring up an army of insects! Stanley the Bugman used his bug spray to repel the pests and stop Donkey Kong.18 Donkey Kong Sr. continued living with the Kong family on their home island. After Donkey Kong Jr. grew into a heavyweight, the Kongs received a surprise invitation from Mario. By this time he had already rediscovered the warp to the Mushroom Kingdom and had settled there after becoming the savior of the land.19 To improve the relations after their initial conflict, Mario invited the Kongs to events like kart racing and a tennis tournament. While Donkey Kong Sr. had no interest in reconnecting with his rival, Donkey Kong Jr. accepted the challenge20 and 9 Pauline is described as Mario's love interest in the original Donkey Kong arcade. 10 The Donkey Kong arcade refers to Donkey Kong as Mario's pet, and the circus premise originates from both the Game & Watch game Donkey Kong Circus and The Saturday Supercade. 11 The events of the Donkey Kong arcade. Donkey Kong Land reveals that this takes place in Big Ape City of Donkey Kong Island. 12 The ending of the Donkey Kong arcade. 13 Donkey Kong Jr. 14 In the “Donkey Kong” segments of The Saturday Supercade, Mario refers to Pauline as his niece. 15 The “Donkey Kong” and “Donkey Kong Jr.” segments of The Saturday Supercade. 16 The Donkey Kong episode “Greenhouse Gorilla” of The Saturday Supercade. 17 Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze reveals that the events of Donkey Kong 3 take place on Juicy Jungle. 18 Donkey Kong 3 19 The introduction to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! describes finding a secret Warp Zone while working on the drain. By Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Mario has already settled down in a house in the Mushroom Kingdom. 20 A larger Donkey Kong Jr. is playable in Super Mario Kart and Mario's Tennis. 2 represented his family. As a result, the Kongs and Mario put their previous conflict behind them, but found it amusing to re-spark this competitive rivalry in sporting events. As the years passed, Donkey Kong Sr. aged to Cranky Kong while Donkey Kong Jr. aged into the modern Donkey Kong.21 During this time, a race of anthropomorphic crocodiles known as the Kremlings migrated from Crocodile Isle to Kongo Bongo Island. Tensions arose between ape and lizard when the Kremling leader, King K. Rool, built Kremkroc Industries and set base there.22 It was then when the idol of the Inca Dinka Doo descended the Crystal Coconut from his eye. Donkey Kong came across the coconut, who discovered that is was a magical power source that claimed that the Kongs would rule the island. Furious with this prophecy, K. Rool was determined to steal the Crystal Coconut to abuse its powers and take over Kongo Bongo Island. Time and time again he tried stealing it, only to be foiled by the Kong Klan.23 Finally, the day of the prophecy came. In another attempt to steal the Crystal Coconut, a frustrated Donkey Kong shattered it to prevent K. Rool from abusing its magic, thereby undoing the Crystal Coconut's prophecy. Since Donkey Kong “gave up everything,”24 Inca Dinko Doo was pleased with his sacrifice and declared Donkey Kong as ruler as he used his powers to erect a giant DK mountain face in the center of the island. From then on Kongo Bongo Island was known as Donkey Kong Island. The Crystal Coconut fragments still retained some magic, but were not powerful enough to be useful for K. Rool. Around this time, K. Rool discovered that his second- in-command, General Klump, was a long-lost brother to Kaptain Skurvy,25 the leader of a group of pirate Kremlings who defected from the Kremling Krew. With Donkey Kong as their common foe, they joined forces, with K.

Donkey kong 64 walkthrough pdf Continue In: Donkey Kong 64, Games, Donkey Kong Games, Nintendo 64 Games English Comments Share Donkey Kong 64 (originally known as Donkey Kong Country 64, Donkey Kong Universe, and Donkey Kong World) is a Nintendo 64 video game developed by Rare. It was published by Nintendo and first released on November 24, 1999. This is a sequel to the Donkey Kong Country trilogy, and is still the only game in the series without the word Country in the title. It received generally positive reviews with an average score of 88% according to GameRankings. The game requires the use of Expansion Pak in order to function, and was the first Nintendo 64 game to do so. The game has a single player mode (adventure) and a multiplayer mode (Kong Battle). The story of the game takes place after the events of the Donkey Kong Country series, or, to be more specific, Donkey Kong Land 3. King K. Ruhl returns to a giant mechanical island with a large weapon called Blast-O-Matic to destroy donkey Kong Island. However, due to the incompetence of the crew on board, the island falls and Blast-O-Matic malfunctions. To win some time, K. Ruhl has his soldiers capture Diddy Kong (after he defied and fought the entire Kremling Krew on his own), Lanky Kong, Tiny Kong and Chunky Kong and locked them up. He also has his henchmen steal a treasure trove of Donkey Kong golden bananas. Squawks informs Donkey Kong about the disappearance of his treasure and the Conga, and then donkey tells Cranky what happened immediately after that.

  • The Many Lives of the Jetman: a Case Study in Video Game Analysis Will Brooker
The Many Lives of the Jetman: A Case Study in Video Game Analysis Will Brooker This article examines the changing meanings and forms of the computer game Jetpac, which was originally released by Ultimate for the ZX Spectrum in 1983 and has been recoded by individual programmers during the late 1990s, in at least three different shareware versions, for PC and Spectrum emulators. Through this analysis, it asks a simple question: how can we approach, and perhaps teach, the academic study of computer and video games? Introduction: Games and Theory At the present time, it seems that the study of video games is considered suitable for courses in technical production and for magazine and newspaper reviews, but not for academic degree modules or, with very few exceptions, for scholarly analysis [1]. Video games are a job for those at the design and coding end of the process, and a leisure pursuit for those at the consumption end. There exists very little critical framework for analysing this unique media form. This article suggests a possible set of approaches, based partially on the two pioneering studies of video games of the late 1990s: J.C. Herz’s Joystick Nation (London, Abacus 1997) and Steven Poole’s Trigger Happy (London: Fourth Estate, 2000). Both are exceptional and invaluable sallies into the field, yet both tend towards the journalistic, crafting nifty prose and snappy rhetoric at the expense of academic conventions. Poole, for instance, ends his early chapter sub-sections with slogan-neat but essentially meaningless tags such as “Kill them all”, [2] “You were just too slow” [3] “Go ahead, jump”[4] and, perhaps most glaringly, “The fighting game, like fighting itself, will always be popular”[5].
