This prestigious honor is awarded to a high school girl and boy who demonstrate outstanding character, exhibit leadership and embody the values of being a student-athlete through schoolwork and community affairs. While the 2020 Games will not be played this year due to the ongoing health crisis, all 48 players that were selected will forever be McDonald’s All Americans. Created by McDonald’s in 1997, the award honors the impactful coaching and teaching career of Morgan Wootten – the late chairman of the Games Selection Committee. It was Wootten’s unquestionable passion for coaching and basketball which helped pioneer the McDonald’s All American Games back in 1978 – with Bueckers and Mobley joining the ranks of former Player of the Year recipients including Breanna Stewart, Maya Moore, LeBron James and Jabari Parker. Paige Bueckers The high school senior out of Minnesota will head to the University of Connecticut in the fall.
