Antonio R. Villaraigosa Mayor, City of Los Angeles Since 2005, Antonio R. Villaraigosa has advocated innovative approaches to creating jobs, improving public education and spurring economic development - making L.A. a national model of growth and sustainability. Under his leadership, the city implemented far-reaching educational reforms such as the passage of a $9.1 billion initiative to rebuild and modernize California schools. Jan Perry Los Angeles Councilwoman, 9th District The daughter of civil rights pioneers, Perry has served as the driving force behind revitalization efforts in L.A.’s 9th District since 2001 by spurring job growth as well as the construction of affordable and supportive housing units for families, seniors and the homeless.
