According to co-chairs of the Volunteer Steering Committee Jackie Stott and Phil DeBruyne ‘the response to this event has been overwhelming. This is a reflection on Gord Leonard, the Leonard Family, and the Story of Site 41. The dinner will include a live auction of Ina Wood’s buttertarts, and there are a number of great silent auction items. “We are very fortunate to have a hockey hall of fame star ‘Pierre Pilote’ living in our community and is so generous with his time” said Stott and DeBruyne. The businesses that stepped forward to support these silent auction prizes will make the evening financially rewarding. The goal is to make $40,000.00. Tyler is the 36 year old son of Gary and Wendy Turner. His partner and the mother of their three children is Christina Titterson. The children are Ashton, Samora and Mya and they are aged 12, 11 and 3 yrs old in that order. My family and I opened the Bowling Centre in October of 1995 and after 19 years, I just thought it was time for someone younger to take over and introduce his newer ideas into the business. I am confident that all of our league bowlers will continue to show the Turners the same consistent support that I have been fortunate enough to be have been given and that the many people in the area that are related to them will decide to try their luck at league bowling! Over the years, the Bowling Centre has become a mainstay in the Township. Many businesses have opened and closed since 1995. We have produced many great bowlers at the centre, both in the adult and youth levels. I have been fortunate enough to have felt the gratitude from so many families for the great times that they have shared with us at this place of business. I have seen many relationships built throughout the many leagues over the years. I have had the privilege to host so many bowling birthday parties, Church groups and family functions over the years. As far as Sue and I bowling, we will be right there, continuing to bowl in leagues until Tyler tells us to get out of the way. In an effort to make his first season of bowling amazing, I am asking that if you have ever considered joining a bowling league, stop thinking about it and do it. There are leagues for every age and at this point, the youth leagues could really use an influx of new bowlers. As well, the Thursday afternoon seniors league was short on players last season. If you are over 50 and are looking for a fun activity, consider joining this league. There are also mixed leagues on week nights that are always looking for new players and no experience is needed! If you would like to join a league, call 705-322-0676.
