Phone Bank and Canvass Volunteers to Download The

Phone Bank and Canvass Volunteers Virginia House of Delegates November 2017 Election Local Majority is working with Mobilize America to help Get Out the Vote in the upcoming Virginia House of Delegates elections in November 2017. Mobilize America is helping progressive Democratic campaigns in Virginia with their canvassing and phone banking volunteer needs. They have opportunities this weekend and ongoing during the week. If you have time to help out with phone banking, please download their iPhone app so you can sign up for opportunities. They will release an android app shortly. To download the iPhone App: In the iPhone App Store, search Mobilize America. Open the app and sign up. Once you are in the app, you “Find Opportunities” by inputting custom zip code under Filters (the small filter icon is the top of the home screen - inverted pyramid of 3 lines) To help out the Virginia districts we are working with, please use these zip codes for the various district candidates we are working on. The app will list opportunities within 12-15 miles of each zip codes so there will be many overlaps. Many of our constituents work and shop in your stores and know that the danger to your employees on the front lines continues to exist and your company continues to make millions in profits from the hard work these heroes continue to do every day to serve their neighbors. While other industries are suffering and thousands of our neighbors are unemployed and facing financial hardship, the grocery industry is booming. Sales are up as people are eating more at home, and we know that trend will continue for the foreseeable future. With the grocery store one of the few places people are going to regularly, it has become a dangerous place and everyone who works there is putting themselves and their family at risk on every shift. Giant has also refused to institute real limits on customers in the store, and recently doubled limits put in place at the beginning of the pandemic, making your stores even higher risk for employees to acquire COVID-19 and potentially pass it to co-workers, customers, or family. We know that you instituted a “thank you” bonus for some employees going into June, but that does not replace the “appreciation pay” premium added on to hourly pay, which many of your competitors have already agreed to extend into June, or, in some cases, July.
