    Christ Church Regatta 2019 Rules Below are the rules for the Savills Christ Church Regatta 2019. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with this year's rules. 0a. The 'Regatta Committee' refers to the Regatta Captains, Hilary Wynne and Tom Yildrim, and any other member of Christ Church Boat Club chosen to assist in the organisation of the event. 0b. The 'Race Committee' refers to the Regatta Captains, Hilary Wynne and Tom Yildrim, and up to two other people present at race desk chosen by the Regatta Captain at any one time. It is normally expected that the Regatta Captain will pick impartial and experienced people. I GENERAL I.1 The Regatta Committee reserves the right to alter any of the rules without notice and reserves the right to interpret these rules in any way that stays within their spirit, especially with respect to eligibility. The Race Committee reserves the right to disqualify any boat or boat club which infringes these rules, and there will be no refunds in case a crew or entire boat club is disqualified. The Race Committee's decision in the event of any dispute shall be final. No decision taken by the Race Committee shall be deemed to set or have set precedent; each case will be decided on its own merit. I.2 The Regatta shall be held from Wednesday 27st November until Saturday 30th November 2019 (7th Week, MT) on the Isis, from noon to dusk on Wednesday-Friday, and from 11am to dusk on Saturday, provided that the weather conditions allow it to be run safely.

    THE EAST INDIA CLUB SOME ACCOUNT OF THOSE MEMBERS OF THE CLUB & STAFF WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN WORLD WAR ONE 1914-1919 & WORLD WAR TWO 1939-1945 THE NAMES LISTED ON THE CLUB MEMORIALS IN THE HALL DEDICATION The independent ambition of both Chairman Iain Wolsey and member David Keating to research the members and staff honoured on the Club’s memorials has resulted in this book of Remembrance. Mr Keating’s immense capacity for the necessary research along with the Chairman’s endorsement and encouragement for the project was realised through the generosity of member Nicholas and Lynne Gould. The book was received in to the Club on the occasion of a commemorative service at St James’s Church, Piccadilly in September 2014 to mark the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. Second World War members were researched and added in 2016 along with the appendices, which highlights some of the episodes and influences that involved our members in both conflicts. In October 2016, along with over 190 other organisations representing clubs, livery companies and the military, the club contributed a flagstone of our crest to the gardens of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. At the Olympic level, due to commercialization more money is being spent than ever before on developing more professional and effective training systems to maximize athletic performances. Medals won determine how a coach is evaluated and with more nations competition at a higher level, success is becoming even more competitive. More qualified and adaptable coaches are required to cope with the demands of international competition. The literature has been extensively examined based on the research question: to what extent is coaching success predicted by a coaches’ ability to self-reflect on past experiences? The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that if coaches who are highly self- reflective and have successful athletic and coaching experiences would be more likely to have future coaching success than those who either were not self-reflective or had less success in the past.

  • Christ Church Regatta 2018 Safety Plan
    Christ Church Regatta 2018 Safety Plan Opening Remarks Christ Church Regatta is a novice regatta, which takes place on the Isis. The dates for this year’s event are 21st-24th November 2018 (the traditional dates of Wednesday to Saturday of 7th week). Racing will be scheduled to take place from 12 pm to dusk on Wednesday to Friday, and 11 am to dusk on Saturday. The course to be rowed is from Longbridges (Hertford, Mansfield, St Catherine’s and St Hilda’s boathouse) to the Finish Stone (half way between Pembroke boat house and the Head of the River public house). The first round and repêchage will race over a short- ened course, from across Christ Church boat house to the Finish stone. As with all water-based events, safety is the regatta's primary concern. Conducting a safe Christ Church Regatta presents far fewer problems than an event such as Summer Eights or Torpids. There are fewer crews racing at any one time, the style of racing is different (i.e. side-by-side racing instead of “bumps” racing), the course is much shorter, and the number of bystanders is significantly less. This document provides a compre- hensive safety plan for the event, concerning the participants, organisers and spectators. The organisers are aware of the high profile of Oxford rowing safety at the moment, and are revising the safety plan every year based on previous experience in anticipation of making safer an event that has always taken safety very seriously. Responsibility for Safety Planning The regatta organiser, who is responsible for all aspects of risk assessment and safety plan implementation for Christ Church Regatta 2018, is Ms Anna Schmidtmann, with the help of Ms Ali Williams (Water Safety Advisor of Christ Church Boat Club), at least one of whom will be present at Christ Church Boat House (Race Desk) at all times.
