All plays look a like Easy youth football blocking scheme. “Down Blocking Scheme” Great deception, hard for the to locate ball Great play action passing plays Fly motion on every play Flexible line splits-spread them out or go with tighter splits, your preference Short shotgun - short, safe and easy Shotgun makes the defense have to prepare for the QB as a running threat as well Easy to implement Fun , parents, coaches and players will love it Complete nightmare for defenses to prepare for Can attack all areas of the field very Easily Playbook made for youth football

When your players have fluency with the base plays, your opponents will be in a lot of trouble. You will score many points if this offense is operated properly.

Line Splits, Positions and Numbering

Line Splits/ Positions

Also, split can be brought down to 1’, your preference.

Benefits of having 2’ foot splits:

Spreads the defense out, makes them cover the whole field Creates natural running lanes inside Easy blocking angle on the defense Also can isolate a “stud” player by thinning out the defense

The center must get his splits first. All the rest of the linemen get their splits off the linemen inside of them ( -Center).

Blocking Scheme (play side)

The blocking scheme that is used is “Down Blocking”. Offensive linemen block down on the first defender inside of them. We will kick out block or crack down on any outside defenders. If there are no defender playing the inside gap of the lineman, they need to get onto a . Use a double at the point of attack on all power plays. Most of the time it will be the or nose guard. It is vital that you get the play-side defensive tackle driven back. There will also be a double team on the nose guard on trap plays. Down blocking is great for youth football because it is easy, yet effective. Blocking down will also neutralize any size/strength advantage the defensive linemen might have over your offensive line. “Down Block” on any defender inside of you, doesn’t get any simpler than that.

If you are facing a really good , you need to have your split end crack block on him (“Charley Call”). Yell Charley to your split end that will mean the wingback will loop and take outside linebacker and the split end will crack the defensive end ( come up with more than 1 word that means crack block). Cross face-cut off pursuit (back side): Cross the face of any defensive lineman head up or inside of your offensive linemen. After crossing face, you want your linemen to pick up a defender running to the ball. This is made by BACKSIDE linemen only. This is very important! It can be the difference between a big play and 6 points (touchdown).

Pass blocking scheme is step down, pass block. When linemen are pass blocking the linemen must secure their inside gap. Remember, linemen are not able to go down field.

 Scouting your opponent makes things a lot easier. Knowing how the defense is going to line up will allow you to practice blocking on the defense you are going to see this week. Prepare for the defense you are facing by scouting. Blocking schemes are a bit over ratted. If you know what defensive looks you’re going to face, then you can practice blocking that defense.

Example “Down Blocking” Scheme with Backside Cross face-cut off pursuit

Snap Count

Mix up your snap counts; make the defense have to watch the ball. If the defense is able to time your snap count every play you are in for a long day. This will slow their rush down because they do not know when the offense is going to snap the ball. There are two advantages for the offense, snap count and awareness as to where the play is going. The snap counts are as followed (Grey highlight- motion starts, Yellow highlight- ball snapped): RED, Set, Go, Go.

Play Call On “Set”: The quarterback yells “RED!”-“SET!”- “Set” indicates that the ball needs to be snapped. Fly motion starts on “RED”. Play Call On “One”: Quarterback yells RED!-SET!- GO!- On the first go the ball is snapped. Fly motion starts on “SET”. Play Call On “Two”: Quarterback yells RED- SET!-GO!- GO!- On the second go the ball is snapped. Fly motion starts on “GO”.

“Red” initiates the motion on all snap counts. When the motion back hears “Red” he must go in fly motion, full speed. (Make sure all players are set before motion starts)

Play Call on Pressure, Silent Count (from under center): Quarterback first makes sure all 7 players are lined up on the and that everyone is set (stances). QB gets under center, tapping him to initiate the snap. The silent count is a great change up to catch the defense off guard. It is important that you practice timing with the fly motion. It is also important to call different snap counts to throw off the timing of the defense.

Fly Motion The youth football Spinner T Fly Motion Series is a series of plays that sets one another up. It uses fly motion which is an imamate threat to the edge of defense. This is a series based offense with every play coming off the fly motion. Each play is used to set up another play. For example, once the defense starts to over committing to the fly sweep- hit the defense with the counter, trap, or power play. This fly series makes the defense pick which way they are going to get beat. The fly motion player can be used to deceive the defense. The fly motion player can be used as a kick out blocker or even a lead blocker. Motion is the key to this offense; everything works off speed and deception. This offense can be operated from under center, with no changes to the motion.

 Timing of the motion is vital. The aiming point for the motion back is the near hip of the 2back. The motion back must come in motion at FULL SPEED.

Play Calling Progression

Count the numbers inside of the box. If the defense outnumbers you inside, why waste a play and run inside? Run where you have the blocker/defender ratio in your favor. Against loaded boxes you need to run outside. Against soft boxes you need to run inside. Attack the defense in the area you have the numbers advantage. Do not call plays just to call them, call plays which will give you the most success VS the defense you are seeing.
