Trim and halve the spring onions, finely shred lengthways and place in a bowl of ice-cold water to crisp up. Pick in the coriander leaves, reserving the stalks. 2. Place a large non-stick frying pan on a medium-high heat. 3. With a sharp knife, score the sea bass skin at 2cm intervals, then rub all over with the curry paste, inside and out, getting into all the cracks and crannies. 4. Pack the coriander stalks into the cavities, season with sea salt and black pepper, then place in the hot pan with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. 5. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until dark golden and cooked through (depending on the thickness of your fish). 6. Drain and shake off the spring onions and coriander and pile on to your plates. 7. Sit the sea bass on top, spooning over any spicy oil from the pan. Finely grate over the lime zest, and serve with lime halves, for squeezing over. 4 COMMUNITY SERVICES UPDATE Recycling Centres Update From Monday 1st June all Recycling Centres in Nottinghamshire will be open to cars only, as the remaining sites of Giltbrook, Kirkby, Mansfield and West Bridgford reopen. All centres will be open from 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week from 1 June, so there is no need to rush to the sites. You can only take the following materials:- garden waste, wood, cardboard. general waste, metals, waste electrical, electronic equipment From Monday 8th June pickup trucks, trailers and vans will also be allowed onsite. Don't forget restrictions are in place on site:- visitors must follow strict social distancing guidelines one car in, one car out policy staff are onsite, but they are unable to help unload due to social distancing. If you have coronavirus symptoms, are self-isolating or at a high risk of contracting the virus you should not travel to the sites. Please read our Frequently Asked Questions page on the Notting- hamshire County Council website for more information before you visit a recycling centre site. 5 Schools Nottinghamshire County Council is currently working with schools and academies across the county on phased return-to-school plans for specific year groups. You can read the latest comments of the Chairman of the Children & Young People’s Committee, Councillor Philip Owen, published on the County Council’s website. As Chairman of the Communities & Place Committee, Councillor John Cottee is overseeing the work being done around resuming school crossing patrol and home-to-school transport services. All current School Crossing Patrol sites have been assessed for social distancing and there are some where it will be very difficult for us to provide a normal service given the current national guidance in place. However, we are speaking with all of the relevant schools to establish what is possible, and giving road safety advice appropriate to each location and the present situation. We will be looking to see what physical alterations we can put in place in the future to allow School Crossing Patrols to operate in as many locations as possible. Regarding school transport we have been working closely with our commercial transport providers to establish revised arrangements to get children safely to and from local schools. We have had to source additional transport due to the social distancing rules on buses. The return of pupils to school will be a gradual, phased process and we will plan and prepare school transport provision appropriately to meet demand. There is a public forum session to air your views. IMPROVEMENTS AROUND THE VILLAGES As some of you will have been spending an increased amount of time at home and around Mattersey and Mattersey Thorpe you may have come up with some ideas on how the area could be improved. The Parish Council welcomes ideas as to how we can make the area even better for our residents - money permitting. As a result of a few planning applica- tions being granted recently there may be an opportunity to find funds so if you do think of any schemes, large or small, please send them to us for discussion. SOCIAL DISTANCING Although the Government have eased some of the restrictions resulting from the Covid pandemic there still remains a danger from infection. It must have been increasingly frustrating for people not to venture out with friends, especially for younger people so used to having lots of mates around them. There have recently been a spate of incidents around the River where groups have been gathering and not keeping the regulatory 2 metres apart and not moving off paths to allow others to pass safely. The Parish Council would urge everyone to keep to the social distancing rules – you don’t know if you are carrying the virus and may not be affected but it could have a devastating effect on those who pick up the germ. Please consider other people’s safety. 7 IRRESPONSIBLE DOG OWNERS We are once again having complaints about people not clearing up after their dogs. This is a regular complaint and the Parish Council are now going to be targeting certain areas using roving mobile cameras in order to obtain the evidence for prosecutions – you have been warned. VILLAGE FLOWER TUBS The tubs have been replenished with new plants. The tubs have a reservoir in the base with capillary system to keep the plants watered, however if there is a very dry spell it would be appreciate if these were topped up. There are small holes around the rim into which water can be poured as well as through the soil. I know that we have volunteers for the one near the Church and opposite Proviso Systems but if you see others plants looking a little sorry for themselves please give them a drink. This Photo by Unknown Author is licensed All Saints Church As you will be aware, whilst our church buildings have been closed since the end of March, the Church has been very much open and active through online worship, prayer and through the way in which we are all caring for and serving one another in our communities. Government guidelines have recently changed to advise that we may open our church buildings for private prayer from 13th June. However, our risk assessments indicate that we should not open for private prayer as we cannot monitor compliance to the control measures that need to be in place in all of our church buildings. We anticipate opening for funerals and weddings when the national guidelines allow, but with much reduced capacity and again, with required control measures in place.

    Summary of feedback from Mattersey Future Development Questionnaires Overall Of the 308 questionnaires that were delivered to the households in Mattersey, 55 were returned, giving a response rate for the village of 17.86%. 1. Open Market Housing Numbers of new houses Respondents were asked to indicate the future levels of growth they would like to see in their village. These are the answers received: Answer Number of respondents % of respondents No new housing 25 45.5% 0-10 houses 11 20.0% 10-20 houses 7 12.7% 20-30 new houses 5 9.1% 30-40 houses 2 3.6% 30-40+ 1 1.8% 40+ houses 3 5.5% No answer given 1 1.8% Total 55 100% Taking into consideration all answers, the average (mean) number of new houses that residents wanted in their village was 12.6 houses . However, the most common answer given was no new housing . Types and size of new houses Respondents were asked to mark down which type of housing they believed the village needed in the future. The answer was multiple choice and people were not limited to only providing one answer. The preparation of the Bassetlaw Core Strategy & Development Management Policies Development Plan Document (DPD) began with the publication of the Issues and Options paper and Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for a six-week consultation period in September 2009. A second formal six-week consultation period on the Preferred Options and Sustainability Appraisal commenced in May 2010. Finally, the Publication Core Strategy & Development Management Policies DPD, Publication Proposals Map, Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulation Assessment were released for public consideration for six weeks in November 2010. As well as the formal consultation periods, the District Council has consulted with a range of bodies and individuals during the entire period of the DPD’s development, and used a variety of methods in line with the Statement of Community Involvement, to secure feedback from as wide ranging a group as possible. In Nottinghamshire We Love To Commemorate Our Aviation Heritage The diversity of aviation memorial locations across the county is impressive. These memorials are not just at airfield sites, but they can also be found in churches, village halls, on city streets and at remote countryside locations. Some memorials are relatively new, whilst others can trace their origins back Nottinghamshire decades. These memorials, some of them raised through public subscription, reflect the lives of national figures like Albert Ball VC; whilst others are simpler marks of respect that have been erected thanks to the efforts of small groups of individuals. There are even sculptures and pub signs that highlight the county’s contribution to the development of significant aviation technologies. Collectively they play a part in helping to commemorate the county’s aviation heritage. Many individuals had travelled from around the world to air bases in Aviation Memorials Aviation | Nottinghamshire to train as World War II bomber crews. A common bond that joins most of these memorials together is that they commemorate the lives of brave individuals who were lost whilst learning these new skills; often in difficult weather conditions, a long way from home and in a relatively congested airspace, caused by having a lot of airfields so close together. For each of the memorials listed we have provided some background information about the crews involved and the circumstances of the crash; this is merely a snapshot of incidents that are recorded in more detail in books and on websites and we would encourage you to investigate them further.
