Swing Low Sweet Charity 03 June 2009 Martyn Wood Launches Charity Rugby Tournament Former Wasps, Bath and England rugby player, Martyn Wood, visited Harrogate to launch the Swing Low Sweet Charity tag rugby tournament and Gala Ball which this year boasts a more impressive ‘Who’s Who’ of rugby stars than ever before. Fresh from the British Lions tour to South Africa, Stephen Jones, Lee Mears and Dwayne Peel, will be heading up the dream team at Harrogate Rugby Club on Saturday 25 July. The all star line-up includes Simon Easterby, Guy Easterby, Mark Jones, Regan King, Kees Meeuws, Matthew Tait, Matthew Perry, Geordan Murphy, Ben Woods, David Flatman and Danny Grewcock. Both companies and individuals throughout Yorkshire are being invited to put forward teams, each of which will include one of the 16 star players. The teams and other revellers can go on to celebrate their sporting success at a Gala Ball at The Old Swan in the evening, sitting on a table with their star player. All proceeds from the events will go to the charities Reach and Ataxia UK. “We’re only too aware that this year people are tightening their belts, but for just £400 per team, you have the opportunity of enjoying a once in a lifetime experience, playing rugby with some of your sporting heroes as well as supporting two very worthwhile charities,” commented Ralph Zoing of Marshall Zoing, the company organising the event. “It really is a fantastic day out, whether you’re one of the players or a spectator. We want the whole town to come along and make the most of the fact that we have put together the greatest line-up of rugby players ever to visit Harrogate!” If you would like to support the event by entering a team, providing sponsorship or taking a table at the Gala Ball, please contact Ralph Zoing on (01423) 501401 or email [email protected] .
