Irregular Flagstone Product and Description

Description Irregular Pennsylvania Flagstone is a natural stone quarried throughout Northern Pennsylvania and Southern New York. Each quarry produces stone that has a color, texture, and quality all its own. The natural cleft surface and range of colors makes this product both versatile and unique. The range of colors include blue, green, brown, lilac, rust, and gunmetal.

Thickness 1” or 1.5” (not gauged). 1” thick stone should be set in cement, while 1.5” thick stone can be set in cement, sand or stone dust.

Approximate Coverage 110 square feet per ton for the 1” thick flagging (depending on the size of the joint and actual stone thickness). 75 square feet per ton for the 1.5” thick flagging (depending on the size of the joint and actual stone thickness).

Application Irregular Flagstone is ideal for use on patios, walkways, and pool decking.

Selling Unit Irregular Flagstone is sold by weight. There is approximately 1.5 to 2 tons per pallet. Stone may be purchased as individual pieces from an open pallet, and are sold by the weight.

Availability Irregular Flagstone is generally a stock item. Pallets of mostly lilac or blue colored Irregular Flagstone are special order.

Full Color Range Our stocked Irregular Flagstone comes in a full color range. This simply means that the stone is palletized as it is naturally produced in the quarry. Materials are relatively consistent in color, but please be aware that Flagstone is a natural product and subtle color variations do occur. The full color range most often includes shades of gray and gray-green with some blue, tan, brown and gun- metal mixed in. Our New York Flagstone is considered Grade A quality.

Natural Cleft Natural Cleft means the stone is split with a hammer and chisel to thickness after the initial cutting process. Natural cleft stone shows its natural surface characteristics. This means the flagstone may contain subtle variations and fluctuations in face reveal and appearance. Fluctuations and variations are what give natural stone exclusive beauty. Thickness tolerance may vary +/- 1/4”.

Standard Size Tolerance Standard size tolerance with Irregular Flagstone is +/- 1/4”. This tolerance range is incremental. There may be times when the tol- erance is slightly less or slightly more. Due to the face nature determines it’s thickness, stones .75” to 1.25” are considered 1” stone and stones 1.25” to 1.75” are considered 1.5” stone. Larger sizes are available for an additional charge but tend to run thicker.
