  • Ares Fighting Championship Announces the Signature of Top-Level French Fighters
For Immediate Release: Thursday, July 17th ARES FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCES THE SIGNATURE OF TOP-LEVEL FRENCH FIGHTERS Dear members of the media, ARES Fighting Championship is happy to announce the bolstering of its roster with the signatures of new fighters including former lightweight Mickael Lebout (19-10), welterweight Karl Amoussou (24-8) and heavyweight Malik Merad (24-16). French-Cameroonian professional boxer Hassan N’Dam and French Judoka Laetitia Blot have also chosen ARES FC to begin their MMA careers. Mickael ‘Ragnar’ Lebout is a reference when it comes to French MMA. The UFC, Cage Warriors, M-1 and BAMMA veteran recently joined ARES FC as the league “fits the objectives he has set up for himself”. Karl 'Psycho’ Amoussou is arguably one of the most well-rounded French MMA fighters in the game. Winner of the Bellator welterweight tournament, the Cage Warriors, M-1 and Brave veteran recently expressed his motivation and “bad intentions” for his return to competitive MMA with ARES FC. Malik Merad is considered as one of the best heavyweight finishers in Europe. Moving up to stacked heavyweight division, he will likely be challenging another recent ARES FC signature in the person of Juan Adams. World-champion boxer Hassan N'Dam recently announced his decision to move into MMA through his signature with ARES FC. His professional boxing record (37-5) includes a middleweight WBA world championship in 2010 and in 2017. He was also middleweight WBO champion in 2012. Currently number 15 in the super-middleweights, N'Dam will probably transition into the welterweights for his first MMA bout.

  • Real MMA's Inaugural Event Success
Real MMA's inaugural event was a huge success! By Thomas “Psychic Tom” Padgett Las Vegas, Nevada. On Friday, June 27th, the sold-out crowd at the Silverton Casino's Veil Pavilion was treated to an action-packed night of pure, raw and intense amateur MMA and Muay Thai kickboxing competition. The card was the initial promotion of RealMMA (www.realmixedmartialarts.com), and featured 7 MMA bouts and 4 Muay Thai match-ups. Each and every fighter gave it everything they had, and nothing, absolutely nothing was left in the ring. After a stirring rendition of the national anthem by the talented Micah Honzay, the event was on. The first bout was in the lightweight division and featured Dominique “Dom Dom the Don” Edwards taking on Kamen “The Humble Champion” Kreilick. The feel-out portion of this fight lasted about 3 seconds, then Dominique launched a withering barrage of punches and kicks. The fury of his attack was reminiscent of a man defending his family against an intrusion from Freddy Kruger. However, Kamen stayed calm, covered up and survived an assault that would have stopped many opponents. Edwards kept coming, and Kreilick fired back, resulting in several furious exchanges. Later in the round, blood began flowing from Kreilick's nose, but the referee and ringside physician allowed things to continue – much to the delight of the crowd. Round 2 began with a similar pace, and take-downs were added to the mix...brutal, hard-core take- downs. While on the ground, Edwards attempted a choke, but Kreilick reversed position, gained the mount and began a fast and furious ground and pound, almost looking like a hungry, impatient 3 year old pounding his fists on the dinner table.

  • Cage Fighting Is Not a Sport: Fact Sheet
Cage Fighting is Not a Sport: Fact Sheet I. Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, is a spectacle of violence in which severe bodily harm and humiliation are possible outcomes. Unlike established martial arts such as judo, MMA, whose most prominent promoter is the Las Vegas- based Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), is a hybrid of traditional and non-traditional fight maneuvers (e.g., boxing, kicking, kneeing, elbowing, wrestling and strangling) that do not fit into a comprehensive system of self-defense. a. Punches and elbows to grounded opponents are not prohibited under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), a uniform set of rules for professional cage fighting events in the United States.1 b. The types of strikes that are permitted in cage fighting in the U.S. include blows with hands, feet, knees and elbows.2 In the UFC, cage fighters have knocked out opponents with punches or kicks to the head.3 According to a 2006 study, facial laceration was the most common injury in professional MMA competitions, accounting for nearly half of all injuries (47.9%) followed by hand (13.5%), nose (10.4%) and eye (8.3%).4 c. In the UFC, a cage fighter is allowed to deliver a flurry of strikes to a grounded opponent, which is known as “ground and pound.”5 By contrast, punching and other strikes are prohibited in international judo competitions. d. Competitors in MMA are allowed to quit a fight by tapping the ground or the opponent with their hands. This is known in MMA as “tapping out” or a “tapout.”6 However, fighters who tap out also lose the contest, which can be a blow to their reputation and earnings.
