We want to be connected to the needs of University alumni, as well as provide information on activities and updates on EMU alumni achievements, on a more frequent basis. For chis sole purpose, we have established Connection, a newsletter for University alumni and friendspublished eight times a year. Connection is filled with articles on EMU alumni, sports updates, and campus news to keep alumni current on issues affecting the University. As Eastern Michigan prepares for a new century, the University is continuously changing and improving, and we want alumni to be a part of chis growth. Alumni will continue to receive this magazine, Eastern Today, at this time every year. Eastern Todaygoes out to all alumni; Alumni Association members receive the magazine plus the newsletter. The magazine offers more in-depth articles on campus and alumni issues, as well as thought-provoking features on George G. Beaudette various alumni and their laurels. Our alumni continue to make strides in different fields. In this issue, we have featured Rodney Slater, '77, who holds a prestigious post in the federal government as federal highway administrator; the Cinderella story of Jack Yates, '92, who is making his mark in the fieldof education; and Ben Mordecai, '68, who continues to make a name for himself, and make Eastern Michigan proud, in theatre. We also caught up with Olympic gold medalist Hayes Jones, '60, and discovered his more recent achievements. The yearly issue also honors all EMU donors, without whom Eastern Michigan would not be the academic success and innovator it is today. During the past rwo years, donations have increased 60 percent. This year at Homecoming, we want you to come and "Discover the Magic" of EMU. We have many fun-filled activities planned for you, from tailgates to parades, and an exciting match between EMU and Kent State University. Mark your calendar forthe weekend of October 8. Sunshine Boys Bring "Rays" of Laughter

Two retired professors of EMU's Communication and Theatre Arcs Department returned to the stage in May co perform Neil Simon's The Sunshine Boys. Recently retired CT A professors Parker Zellers and Bob McElya returned to campus in the roles of Willie Clark and Al Lewis. Described by Newsweek magazine as "Neil Simon's laugh machine," the play featured two retired old vaudevillians, Lewis and Clark, who worked together for forty-threeyears but hadn't spoken to each ocher for twelve. When the two are relucranrly reunited for a television special, their quarreling resumes. Zellers and McElya had never worked together on a project before the play, but successfully entertained audiences during the play's two-week run.
