RECAP: The South Bay Lakers showcased their off ensive prowess as they beat the Austin Spurs, 148-138, on Wednesday night. David Stockton led the way for the Lakers (19-25) with 27 points and eight assists. Quinndary Weatherspoon paced the Spurs (24-18) with a game-high 30 points. South Bay took a 40-30 advantage after one, behind a combined 21 points from Kostas Antetokounmpo and Talen Horton-Tucker in the opening frame. The Lakers held a 79-69 halftime lead as Devontae Cacok scored 10 points in the second quarter alone. Austin crept back in the third quarter, but the Lakers still led by two, 107-105, through three quarters thanks to a combined 13 points from Reggie Hearn and Pierre Jackson in the third. David Stockton exploded for 15 points in the fourth quarter and the Lakers ran away with the win. Stockton’s big night guided the Lakers to the win and Cacok fi nished with a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double. Horton-Tucker had 22 points, six rebounds and fi ve assists, while Kostas Antetokounmpo recorded 20 points and eight rebounds and Jackson tallied 17 points, fi ve rebounds and seven assists. Hearn scored 15 points and Marcus Allen also fi nished in double digits with 11 points.

King Me South Bay picked up their fi rst win over the on Wednesday, beating the team, 146-137, on Wednesday. Reggie Hearn scored a season-best 25 points, Devontae Cacok tallied his 25th double-double and Talen Horton-Tucker, Pierre Jackson and David Stockton all reached 20 points. South Bay fi nished with a sea- son-best 40 assists, their fi rst time reaching 40+ assists since Jan. 3, 2015 vs. Reno (47 assists) and scored a season-best 86 points in the fi rst half.

Congrats to Coby South Bay Lakers Head Coach Coby Karl was named NBA G League Coach of the Month in February, the second honor of his career and fi rst since November 2017. Karl led South Bay to a league-best 7-2 (.778) record in February, their best month of the season and best since November of 2017. For the month, South Bay led the league in points (130.8), points off turnovers (27.3), fast break points (23.2) and points in the paint (62.4). The team also ranked fi fth in steals (9.8) and sixth in fi eld goal percentage (.469).

Props to Pappy Pierre Jackson had his best game of the season against the Agua Caliente Clippers, leading South Bay to a 123-118 win with a season-best 38 points. The fi nished 10-21 from the fi eld and 6-13 from beyond the arc. In South Bay's last seven games of February, Jackson notched 24.9 points, 6.4 assists and 2.3 steals

February Loving South Bay put together some of their best basketball in February, putting together a 7-2 record in the month as the team has won six of thier last seven games, including wins over the top two teams in the Western Conference. The team has been led by Pierre Jackson (23.6 points, 6.3 assists, 2.4 steals), Devontae Cacok (19.3 points, 11.0 rebounds) and Talen Horton-Tucker (19.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists) in their best month of the season

Messed with Texas The South Bay Lakers picked up their biggest win of the season when they beat the , 140-98, on February 19. The 42-point margin of victory was South Bay's largest win in franchise history, surpassing the previous record of 41 points that was set against the Legends on February 2, 2018.

Can’t Be Ta(e)med Devontae Cacok dominated the start to his rookie season and earned himself a two-way contract with Los Angeles on 12/11/19. He tied his career high in scoring on 2/4 at OKC, fi nishing with 32 points on 15-16 FG to go along with 11 rebounds in only 19 minutes. Cacok tallied a double-double in 27 games, led South Bay in rebounds in 25 games this season and averaged 19.4 points and 11.9 rebounds in 23.9 minutes. North Bay Norvell Zach Norvell Jr. became the 27th player in franchise history to receive an NBA Call-Up when he signed a 10-day contract with the on Saturday, February 8th. In 29 games with South Bay this season, Norvell averaged 15.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, while in the last 10 games, the rookie guard had upped his production to 20.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 45.5 percent from the fi eld and 45.2 percent from three-point range.

Scary Gary Gary Payton II became the 26th player in team history to receive an NBA Call-Up when he signed with the on 12/23. Payton II was named NBA G League Player of the Week on 12/16 after averaging 30.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks while shooting 58.7 percent from the fi eld and 90.0 percent from the line. In South Bay’s two wins during the week, Gary Payton II averaged 33.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 10.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks. He scored a season-best 37 points (14-28 FG) with 10 assists and nine rebounds in South Bay’s win over Northern Arizona on 12/13. The fourth-year guard has tallied fi ve consecutive point-assist double-doubles. Payton leads the league in steals per game (3.2) and ranks 10th in the league in rebounds per game (9.5). With LeBron James winning the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week, the duo became the fi rst pair from Los Angeles and South Bay to win the award in the same week since Kobe Bryant and Sean Banks did so on 4/6/08.

Texas Shootout South Bay put up a season-best 152 points in their win over the Texas Legends on New Year’s Eve. Talen Horton-Tucker scored a career-high 35 points as seven Lakers scored in double fi gures. South Bay shot 63.9 percent from the fi eld (53-83) in the win, the best shooting percentage in a single game by any team this sea- son.

Knocked the Hustle South Bay ended the longest unbeaten start to a season in NBA G League history as they defeated the , 125-118, on 12/7. The second unit combined for 74 points in the win, including a season-high 22 points from Andre Ingram and double-doubles from Devontae Cacok (14 points, 15 rebounds) and Gary Payton II (14 points, 11 assists). South Bay improved to 4-0 when they hold their oppenent to under 40.0 percent shooting from the fi eld.

Pump the Brakes! Despite falling behind by as many as 15 points, South Bay stepped up in the second half of their 129-122 win over Grand Rapids and had their best defensive game of the season. The team tallied a season-best 16 steals, the most steals since 12/29/18, and a season-high eight blocks. They also held Grand Rapids to a sea- son-low 19.2 percent shooting in the third quarter where they outscored the opponent, 38-18.

Smooth Sailing South Bay swept the fi rst back-to-back of the season as they beat the Clippers on the road (110-93) and the Skyforce at home (121-118). Kostas Antetokounmpo scored a career-high 23 points against the Clippers and Zach Norvell Jr. tallied 23 points against Sioux Falls. Devontae Cacok grabbed a double-double in each con- test and Talen Horton-Tucker averaged 19 points across the two games.

Gary Payton: Part II In his fi rst game since returning to the team, Gary Payton II reminded everyone why he is one of the most exciting players in the league. The fourth-year guard fi n- ished South Bay’s home opener with 22 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.

Major Leagues This season, the South Bay Lakers boast fi ve players with NBA experience, including three players that have suited up for both South Bay and the purple-and-gold. Kostas Antetokounmpo has played for Los Angeles, while Reggie Hearn and David Stockton have played in the NBA and each spent time with the Lakers during the 2019 NBA Preseason.
