    Spiritually uncon trolled art: Exploring aesthetics of evil in contemporary music Robert Andersson 2011 Uppsats, magisternivå , 15 hp Religionsvetenskap Människa, natur och religionsprogrammet Handledare: Juan Carlos Gumucio Examinator: Peder Thalén Abstract This essay investigates interpretations of evil as expressed in contemporary music, focusing mainly on lyrics in contemporary popular music. The purpose is to analyze whether there is a certain aesthetic embracing of risk and innovation on display when discussing such subject matters, and to relate such aesthetic connotations to cultural and religious aspects. Lyrical interpretations of evil in a musical context appear to be existent in different forms and are in various ways attempts to integrate the existence of evil acts, as leading to suffering and pain, by incorporating such themes into lyrical material. There appears to be a possible aesthetic embraced when artists are advocating evil acts, however, not totally separable from the aesthetics of the extreme metal scene. Such forms of creative practice appear as reliant on the dialectic between historical perceptions of morality, modern society as globalized, segmented and restructured and the reoccurrence of religion in a secularized perspective. Themes regarding evil appear in this form of aesthetic in different ways to traditional discourse; making use of historical and contemporary images of evil and portraying them as desirable in various ways. In some instances such creative release is also linked to religious belief and practice, making the artistic performance equivalent of a transcendental event. This study focuses on the task of explainable multi-hop QA, which requires the system to return the answer with evidence sentences by reasoning and gathering disjoint pieces of the reference texts. Nu is er ook de film. ‘Murder In The Front Row’ vertelt het verhaal van het ontstaan van de thrash metal en in het bijzonder dat van de wereldberoemde en invloedrijke thrash metalscene in de Bay Area van San Francisco in de jaren tachtig van de vorige eeuw. Het verhaal van Exodus en Metallica, maar in het kielzog daarvan ook van Slayer, Megadeth en vele andere bands. Het boek is er al sinds 2012, maar onlangs ging in Amerika ook de film in première. Later dit jaar gaat ‘Murder In The Front Row’ ook in Europa in roulatie. Aardschok blikt erop vooruit met de maker ervan: Adam Dubin. Geen enkele zichzelf respecteren- de thrashfan kan om de papieren versie van ‘Murder In The Front Row’ heen. Een must. Toch stelt het als boek an sich niet eens zoveel voor. Te lezen valt er weinig. Dans ce style, les deux premiers opus Burn My Eyes en 1994 et The More Things Change en 1997 sont devenus des classiques, les morceaux Davidian, Old et Ten Ton Hammer figurant toujours dans les set list du groupe. Robb FLYNN, chanteur, guitariste, principal compositeur et fondateur n’a jamais caché ses influences dans le Metal classique allant de BLACK SABBATH à JUDAS PRIEST. MACHINE HEAD, grâce à une forte expérience scénique et un gros travail régulier a acquis beaucoup d’expérience au fil du temps et a fait mûrir progressivement sa musique vers quelque chose de plus complexe et de plus mélodique. Ainsi, The Blackening qui sort en 2007 constitue son "Black album", un disque Thrash metal complètement abouti au succès commercial mérité. Il s’en suit une immense tournée de plus de 300 dates afin de promouvoir cet album, notamment en première partie de METALLICA ou de SLIPKNOT. Difficile donc de sortir l’album suivant en 2011…A lieu de se mettre la pression, c’est avec une totale liberté que MACHINE HEAD a composé Locust.
