Tufan EROLDOĞAN 2 1Fisheries Faculty, Munzur University, Tunceli, Turkey 2Fisheries Faculty, Çukurova University, Adana, Turkey ABSTRACT ARTICLE INFO Critical thermal maxima (CTMax) and minima (CTMin) were determined for RESEARCH ARTICLE Turkish crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) acclimated to 15, 20 and 25°C. CTMin and CTMax were 1.3, 1.1 and 2.0°C, and 37.4, 37.5 and 38.7°C, respectively. Received : 11.05.2018 Thermal tolerance tests showed that acclimation temperatures (15, 20 and 25C) Revised : 05.10.2018 had significant effects on CTMin values of A. leptodactylus (P≤0.05). The area of Accepted : 04.11.2018 thermal tolerance assessed using the CTMin and CTMax boundaries were 2 calculated as 364°C . It is based on a first draft by WCMC in 1998. Except for Birds (Birdlife International, 1994), no assessment is yet available on the conservation status of Vertebrate species at European level, while Red Books exist at national level in almost all European countries. On the other hand, a global list of threatened species is published and maintained up-dated by IUCN according to well defined criteria (IUCN, 2000). We used this approach to determine the age structure of 162 individuals from two Pelophylax caralitanus populations. All individuals exhibited Lines of Arrested Growth (LAGs) in the bone cross-sections and the average age varied between 4.5 and 5.4 years in both Işıklı and Burdur populations. Although intraspecific age structure and sex-specific age structure did not differ signifi- cantly between populations, we found that the Işıklı population had a lower body size in the same age class, had lower growths rates and lower values of survival rates and adult life expectancy than the Burdur population. Age structure and body size of a population of the China Wood Frog (Rana chensinensis) in northeastern China were determined by using skeletochronology. Lines of arrested growth (LAGs) recorded in phalanges were used to estimate the age of adults. Results showed that average age did not differ significantly between males and females. Age at sexual maturity in both sexes was 1 yr. The maximum observed longevity was 5 yrs in males and 4 yrs in females, respectively. Average body size of females was significantly larger than males. A non-significant negative correlation between body size and air temperature was found among the seven populations when the effect of altitude, latitude and age was controlled, suggesting that latitudinal variation in body size of Rana chensinensis across different temperature environment do not follow Bergmann's rule. The occurrence of the latter taxon in Anatolia (Erciyes Mountain, Kayseri) was given by Werner (1902). The distribution sites of the moun- tain frogs cover Anatolian and Caucasus Mountain chains with isolated population on the Strizhament Mountain in the Stavropolskii Region of Russia from sea level to 3.000 m a.s.l. (Kuzmin et al. 2009).
