The University has recently established Departments of Public Administration, Folkloristics and Tribal Studies, Foreign Languages Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication and Music and Fine arts to offer avenues of critical, liberal and career-oriented learning to prospective students. Our special emphasis is on modelling our existing and new programmes of study on the lines of multidisciplinary and skill-based approach enunciated in the New National Education Policy, 2020. The University will also strive to incorporate mechanisms of exit and re-entry options into its academic programmes in the ensuring year. I am happy that the CUK is part of CUCET, 2021 consortium for admissions in various programmes for the ensuing academic year. In the era of fast-paced knowledge society, the University endeavours to create skilled, effective and socially committed human beings. ABOUT KALABURAGI AND KALYANA KARNATAKA REGION The Central University of Karnataka is situated in the Kalaburagi district in Kalyana Karnataka Region. The region has the oldest ancestral history of 1.2 million years, Isampur being the earliest stone tool making industry during the Palaeolithic period (Stone Age). There has been a consistent occupation (during Palaeolithic, Mesolithic, Neolithic and Iron Age) of the region across the rivers of Bhima, Krishna and Tungabhadra for hunter-gatherers and pastoralists & early agricultural communities until recently 2000 years ago. Maski, Watgal, Budihal, Sangankallu-Kupgal, Piklihal, Hirebenekal etc., are few archaeologically well-studied sites. We find an exciting concentration of Ashoka rock edict sites, such as Sannati, Maski, Gavimath, Udegolam, Nittur and Brahmagiri, indicating the Mauryas in South India and the spread of ‘Dhamma’ during the 3rd century BCE. Reminiscence of Stupas in Sannati and Kanaganahalli on the bank of river Bhima,
