Dr Lane is also responsible for the Arup University function, for this Board. The purpose of Arup University is to provide a learning, research, foresight and skills function for all staff, as well as enable knowledge transfer throughout the firm, and provide information management systems to all staff for use in their project work. Selected project experience Dr Lane is recorded as having provided her professional services on 448 projects since she commenced work at Arup. This is in her capacity as a fire safety engineer, and has incorporated fire safety strategic advice on projects around the world, numerical analysis including structural fire analysis, smoke control analysis, evacuation analysis, external fire spread analysis; outputs include the production of reports for RIBA stages, final project handover reports (as-built condition and management requirements), existing building fire strategies, fire risk assessment reports; as well as the production of life safety strategies, property protection and business continuity strategies; etc In her project work, and expert witness project work, she has had to review many fire test reports and third party certification documents, both for projects the responsibility of Arup, and on half of contractor clients. She has witnessed fire tests for ductwork, doors, sprinklers, glazing, structural fire performance, etc. Dr Lane is recorded as having worked on 95 projects classified as Design and Build, with the Principal Contractor as her client for 62 of these projects.

Building Manual and Health and Safety File Terminal 2 Dublin International Airport; client Dublin Airport Authority; 20 I 0 Sign off and preparation of the fire certificate (as built fire strategy), and associated fire drawings, for Part I of the Safety File required by Regulations 13 and 21 of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006. Sign off and preparation of the fire safety manual in accordance with BS9999 for Part 2 of the Safety File (O&M Manuals). Compliance and completeness check of the fire safety information for all active and passive fire protection systems relied upon in the as built fire strategy, before accepting into the O+M Manual. This required participation in testing, commissioning and

St George's Court, office building London; Client London+ Regional, Principal contractor Kier, 2014 Preparation of the fire safety manual index for the principal contractor Kier. This was then located in the Health and Safety File, forming Part A of the O+M Manual produced by Kier and their team. Preparation of the detailed as built fire strategy for the purposes of handover, and compliance with Regulation 38 of the Building Regulations. This document contained the fire safety information to enable Kier comply with BS9999, and specifically the relevant parts of Design Information, Fire Safety Policy Statement, and Fire Safety Documentation.

Holland Green, high rise residential buildings (3No.) Kensington; client Chelsfield Developments Ltd, principal contractor Mace, 2015 Preparation of the final fire strategy for the buildings (7-9 storeys), provided for the principal contractor Mace, for handover to the Responsible Person as required by Regulation 38 of the Building Regulations. This report included handover information for the building manager with a summary of pertinent fire safety information in order to develop the building's fire risk assessment, and guidance on where to find more detailed fire safety information. Preparation of a fire safety manual index in accordance with BS9999 for incorporation in the Health and Safety file, referring to the information provided in the final fire strategy and in other parts of the O+M Manual produced by Mace and their team. The Health and Safety File, formed part of the O&M manual.

Existing building fire strategies Tate St Ives Commission to produce a fire strategy and drawings recording the existing fire strategy in the art gallery at that time.

40 Bank Street, Canary Wharf, London Preparation of an existing building fire strategy, for this high rise office building, incorporating an assessment for a new rate of occupancy, relying on the existing fire safety measures.

Jubilee Place, Canary Wharf, London Preparation of a fire strategy for the expansion of the existing Jubilee Place Retail Mall at Canary Wharf, London; incorporating existing building levels and the existing building fire safety measures.

Canadian embassy, London Existing fire safety strategy, and then the final fire safety strategy to enable the refurbishment works which included the upgrade and interconnection of Canada House and 2-4 Cockspur Street; relied on existing and new fire safety measures.

University College London (UCL) campus Masterplan fire strategy and interactive PDF drawings recording the existing fire safety provisions in the buildings and their surrounding access routes, for the campus. The purpose of the report was to ensure any existing fire safety provisions were not compromised as a result of any new works proposed.

High Rise Residential buildings/developments - fire safety design including fire safety strategies and fire safety compliance activities Canary Wharf Estate London - multiple high-rise buildings on the site. Project Director responsible for developing fire strategies (multiple design stages to as built condition) that demonstrate compliance with the UK Building Regulations and Canary Wharf's own framework which has additional fire safety requirements to meet specific fire safety objectives. Elisabeth House, London - Project Director for this mixed-use, high rise development, including commercial, residential and retail accommodation. Detailed analysis regarding external fire spread for the purposes of consulting with LFEP A, and Building Control, during a highly complex Planning Application.

Project Neptune - Seventeen high rise residential buildings, on a campus in Scotland. Review of existing active and passive fire protection measures, production of existing building fire safety strategy information and following up with detailed fire risk assessment analysis.

High rise buildings UK and International Transforming Tate Modern Project Director for the fire safety strategy for this unique building designed by Herzog+ De Meuron, addressing life safety, property protection, business continuity and art collection protection and security. The Pinnacle, London Project director for the advanced structural fire analysis and design of this 63 storey tower rising 288m from street level. Leadenhall St Tower, London Project Director for the structural fire analysis of this 50 storey development proposed for the City in London, for British Land. Heron Tower, London Project Director for the structural fire analysis of this 50 storey development proposed for the City in London; also, evacuation analysis for specific extreme events. Lime St Commercial development, London Project Director for the structural fire safety strategy and assessment for two office towers in central London. Kings Place Development, London Project Director responsible for the structural fire analysis and design of this new build office headquarters, in London CCTV building, Beijing Project Director for Structural fire analysis and strategy development and presentation, for this Rem Koolhaus structure in Beijing Plantation Place South, London Project Director responsible for the structural fire analysis this multi-storey composite steel frame structure in fire conditions which removed the fire protection from 67% of the steel beams.

Existing building services, incorporating construction works, enabling handover from contractor to client Gateway Birmingham New Street Station Project, UK (part-time on site) Project Director for a large fire team working full time on site, dealing with the construction stage fire risk assessment of all works on this £600M redevelopment. This role was as competent advisor to the principal contractor (Mace) to enable compliance with their duties under CDM 2007 and the RR(FS)O, in what was a shared premises ( operational station, shopping center, and large construction site). Technical aspects of the role include analysis and inspection of the performance of construction materials, and construction processes; systems installation auditing; fire alarm cause and effect testing and defining alterations; on site construction inspection; on site enforcement of the fire safety measures; ongoing review of the sub-contractor's fire risk assessments underpinning their works; occupancy analysis and safety solutions for the 140,000 members of the public on the "site" daily including platform and public areas; plus, reviewing firefighting access and facilities and creating amended approaches throughout each construction stage as required; final statement on handover and inspection of handover documentation for the statutory authorities.

The Shard (part time on site) Responsible for on-site compliance works regarding the approved fire strategy including fire alarm testing, detailed passive fire safety systems inspections; preparation of defects lists prior to handover, seeking out compliance matters for handover. Production of relevant fire safety information as part of the wider Building Manual works.

Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam -Lounge 2 and OneX Projects Project Director for a site­ based team of engineers undertaking fire risk assessment work for the Schiphol client Organisation Terminal Real Estate. Focused on reducing risk from fire during a programme of extensive reconstruction, building modification and fire safety system renewal within the extended range of existing terminal buildings; works took place simultaneously in different areas with different main contractors for each area. Also included review of documentation and compliance, prior to handover.

Relevant experience During my six years as a fire engineer I have developed fire strategies, hand over fire safety strategies, and undertaken performance-based fire engineering calculation for structural fire, fire and smoke spread, and evacuations. I am registered as having worked on 54 projects since I commenced my employment at Arup. I have also lead site inspection teams investigating fire stopping defects; undertaken risk assessments, provided peer reviews of other fire engineering companies fire strategies and set requirements for a contractor in regard to the relevant information required to be provided at handover under Regulation 38. I have carried out extensive review of fire test reports and third party certification, for projects at Arup. I have witnessed multiple fire tests for the purpose of advising a contractor on product specification compliance with the Arup fire safety strategy requirements. I was also part of the project team for two expert witness legal cases where I was responsible for assessing the compliance of the external wall construction.

Relevant experience My experience includes the development and delivery of fire strategies, undertaking performance-based fire engineering assessments, undertaking fire risk assessment work, undertaking site inspection work, and providing third party design reviews. For the first two and a half years of my career, my role was primarily focussed on the design of high-rise residential and mixed-use buildings in London. This included the concept design of smoke control solutions for common escape routes. More recently I have been involved in the design of education buildings, prisons, an international airport, and 3rd party reviewer for the design of various sporting venues in South America. Whilst at Hoare Lea I assisted on expert witness instructions relating to deficiencies in passive fire protection at two schools and a care home. I have a particular interest in the fire safe design of mass timber buildings. I am the leader of the Timber skills group within the UK Fire team at Arup. Through this role I am responsible for our research and development plan, as well overseeing that work and assisting in carrying it out. I also co-supervise PhD research at Imperial College London regarding timber performance in fire.
