3.Ijece-Survey Paper of Script Identification
International Journal of Electronics and Communication Engineering (IJECE) ISSN(P): 2278-9901; ISSN(E): 2278-991X Vol. 8, Issue 3, Apr - May 2019; 15-20 © IASET SURVEY PAPER OF SCRIPT IDENTIFICATION OF TELUGU LANGUAGE USING OCR B. Hari Kumar 1 & P. Chitra 2 1Reserch Scholar, Department of ECE, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai,India 2 Professor, Department of ECE, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, India ABSTRACT This study provides a summary of the ongoing research and the development process of the optical character recognition (OCR) systems for Devanagari text. A file may contain words in more than a language in a multilingual country like India. Multilingual Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system is required for a multilingual environment to read the multilingual documents. The objective of OCR is an automatic reading of the optically sensed document to interpret human-readable fonts into machine-readable code. Reading of Devanagari script is still a challenging task as various approaches are available for Chinese, English, and Japanese for script acknowledgement to get 100 percent accuracy. A survey has been done on Telugu OCR System. Recognition involves character segmentation into the elements of the component and recognizing them. A heuristic method has been selected as the best classifier for the current work based on the identification precisions of multiple classifiers. In this article, a heuristic approach is developed for separation, feature extraction and recognition of Devanagari script. The subsequent portion of this paper would explain the development that has been made in OCR System application for Devanagari Script reorganization and for the future work’s scope in Devanagari OCR systems. -
Maulana Muhammad Abdur Rahim's (1918- 1987) Discourse on Secularism
MAULANA MUHAMMAD ABDUR RAHIM'S (1918- 1987) DISCOURSE ON SECULARISM BY FAROQUE AMIN A dissertation submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the degree of Master of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (U~ul al-Din and Comparative Religion) Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences International Islamic University Malaysia NOVEMBER2010 ABSTRACT The present research examines the contribution of Maulana Muhammad Abdur Rahim (1918-1987) in the development of Islamic thought in Bangladesh through his intellectual and socio-political activities. The core discussion is evolved around his discourse on Secularism; the doctrine that gained wide acceptance among the Bangladeshi Muslim society in the post-independence period. This study is based on the investigation of Abdur Rahim's life and his intellectual legacy. Abdur Rahim's theoretical discourse on Secularism is primarily found in two of his books; Philosophical Foundation of the Western Civilization and Contemporary Thoughts. The Research predominantly adopts a textual analysis method to examine both the primary (i.e. Abdur Rahim's writings) and secondary sources which deal with the issue. This study attempts·to understand the methodological initiatives he set in place while introducing Secularism from Islamic perspectives. The research finds that he considers Secularism as the major outcome of the European Renaissance and an umbrella doctrine for some major ideologies. He develops a conceptual framework of studying Secularism by considering it as the source of three significant thoughts; Theory of Evolution, Psychoanalysis Theory of Freud and Marxism. According to him, Secularism and the above mentioned three ideologies are interdependent in nature. Abdur Rahim stated that, early Secularism resembled the idea of separation of political and religious affairs, whereas the modem Secularism expresses a denial of the religion. -
Iqbal and Jinnah: an Amalgamation of Thought and Real Politics
South Asian Studies A Research Journal of South Asian Studies Vol. 32, No. 2, July – December 2017, pp.505 – 521 Iqbal and Jinnah: An Amalgamation of Thought and Real Politics Farooq Ahmad Dar Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan ABSTRACT Muhammad Iqbal and Mohammad Ali Jinnah are normally credited as the founding fathers of Pakistan. Both of them, to begin with, were the supporters of Indian nationalism and later, due to their political and social experiences they emerged as the champions of the idea of Muslim nationalism in South Asia. Two of them had very little interaction with each other yet the partnership between the two had left a great impact on the history of this region. In late 1920s Iqbal and Jinnah supported two different groups of Muslim League. However, in 1930s they realized that actually they were trying to reach the same destination by following separate paths. Eventually they developed a relationship based on trust and respect. Iqbal played a major role in the making of Jinnah as the leader of Pakistan movement. It was the combination of Iqbal’s philosophical mind and Jinnah’s statesmanship which ultimately resulted in the creation of a nation state, Pakistan. Key Words: Iqbal, Jinnah, Muslim Nationalism, Muslim League, Punjab Politics No mention of the history of Pakistan Movement is complete without incorporating the vision of Muhammad Iqbal, the poet-philosopher, and political and legal acumen of the statesman, Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Both of them enjoy undisputed respect and special position in the discourse of the Muslim Nationalist Historiography in South Asia, which revolves around the opinion that Iqbal conceived the idea of Pakistan and Jinnah converted the idea into a practical reality. -
AK Fazlul Huq's
1 A.K. Fazlul Huq’s ‘Rise to Power’ in Bengal Politics Bengal and the Bengalis at the very beginning of the twentieth century, were in the forefront not only in the field of introducing new philosophy, applying new methodology and generating new political ideas and consciousness among the masses but also they were playing the prominent role in launching the anti- British movements, mainly under the banner of the Indian National Congress and Bengal at that time, was thought-out to be the „nerve centre of Indian nationalism‟. Not only that, Bengal along with Punjab and Maharashtra had also become great centres of „militant nationalism‟ or „revolutionary terrorism‟. The first half of the twentieth century was considered to be much eventful in the history of Bengal as well as India with regard to the socio-economic and political changes that had occurred, influenced and completely changed the socio-political scenario of this country. The 1905 was the milestone which indicated a major turning point and momentous event not only in the history and politics of undivided Bengal but also of India. The first partition of Bengal in 1905 and its annulment in 1911, had transformed Bengal into an epicenter of Indian politics. The foundation of the All – India Muslim League (as a result of the Simla deputation of 1 October 1906 to the Viceroy Lord Minto II under the leadership of Aga Khan) in the Dacca Educational Conference on 30 December 1906 under the leadership of Nawab Salimullah of Dacca (presently Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh) to safeguard the political rights and interests of the Muslims, to preach loyalty to the British and to further the cause of inter-communal amity was, of course, another fundamental political change which brought a section of Muslim community of Bengal to a position of active politics not only at the provincial level but also at the national level. -

An Introduction to Hinduism
A guide to various aspects of Indian religious thought and inter-religious understanding and religious tolerance. "Its chief mark consists in concentration on the spiritual aspect, belief in the intimate relationship of philosophy and life, the inseparability of theory and practice and the insistence on intuition coexisting with the acceptance of authority." I have summarised and rearranged the material so that some of them could more easily and logically fit into the sub-headings I have created for the western readers of my Web-site. Otherwise the contents of the original text remains unchanged except a few amendments and correction I have made. Your suggestion, comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated. "CHAPTER Vlll - Religion " An introduction to Hinduism - 1 - copy right © 1999-2000 Prakash Arumugam An Introduction It has been pointed out by Dr. Arnold J. Toynbee1, in A Study of History, that the principal civilisations of the world lay different degrees of emphasis on specific lines of activity. Hellenic civilisation, for instance, displays a manifest tendency towards a prominently aesthetic outlook on life as a whole. Indian civilisation, on the other hand, shows an equally manifest tendency towards a predominantly religious outlook. Dr. Toynbee's remark sums up what has been observed by many other scholars. -
(1870S-1990S) Heena Ansari* and SZH Jafri
Journal of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh (Hum.), Vol. 64(2), 2019, pp. 251-269 Review Article MUSLIMS OF BENGAL: AN ANALYSIS OF SOME PERSPECTIVES (1870S-1990S) Heena Ansari* and SZH Jafri* Abstract Bengal Muslims have attracted the attention of British officials since the time of Permanent Settlement. The issues like peasant revolts, Faraizi movement and marginalization of Muslim elite during Inam Commission AD 1828-46 have enticed their interest. In the modern writings Bengal Muslim are treated as the ‘zoology of the lower chordates’ and have not come up to the grip of the problem in a manner which is required from the available data. In the ‘bhadralok dominated’ discourse, Muslim themselves are held responsible for their economic plight and educational backwardness. Such studies seldom take up the questions historically. Neither the files of Inam Commission could be accessed anywhere in India, nor the family papers of marginalized elite have survived. We only have colonial records providing a peep into the process/es of their marginalization. Any discussion on the plight of Bengal Muslim ought to begin with Permanent Settlement, the auction and monetization of zamindari rights. This review article seeks to analyse the data from much maligned and ignored work of W.W. Hunter,Our Indian Musalmans-Are They Bound in Conscience to Rebel Against the Queen; Peter Hardy, The Muslims of British India, Azizur Rahman Mallick, British Policy and the Muslims in Bengal, 1757-1856, and Rafiuddin Ahmed, The Bengal Muslims 1871-1900: A Quest for Identity. These works specifically have taken up the Muslim questions, therefore, it becomes important to understand the diversity in their approach. -
