External Speakers and Events Policy Form

This form should be completed by any groups wishing to invite an external speaker or other external representatives for an event on or off campus. It is not to stop such a person coming to speak or an event taking place. It is instead to ensure that the correct arrangements can be put in place to allow such an event to take place safely.

Jessie Joe Jacobs is a ‐based British political and social activist, and regional charity leader. She founded the charity A Way Out in 2002 and is the current director of the North‐East charity consortium, the Northern Inclusion Consortium. Jacobs was also the co‐founder of the free 'alternative' tabloid, The Eclipse in Tynesideand founded the 'I Love Stockton Me' social media project[4].

After announcing her bid in July 2019, in the October, Jacobs was selected to be the Labour candidate in the May 2020 race for mayor of Tees Valley, standing against current Conservative Mayor Ben Houchen.
