It is a nocturnal primate, consuming insects in its natural habitat. However, palatability of Nymphalidae and Papilionidae butterflies families as the feed of Tarsius fuscus is unknown. The butterflies are available abundantly around the Tarsius’ captivity in the natural habitat of Tarsius fuscus, therefore they are a potential natural feeding for Tarsius fuscus. This study aims to determine the palatability of Nymphalidae and Papilionidae butterflies families as the feed for Tarsius fuscus. This information is important to provide natural feeding for Tarsius fuscus, to avoid the dependence of Tarsius fuscus on grasshopper feed in captivity. The palatability treatment used was free choice feeding methods. The diet was given ad- libitum. The results showed that 12 species of butterflies from Nymphalidae family and 9 species of butterflies from the Papilionidae family were palatable for the feed of Tarsius fuscus Keywords : diet, Tarsius fuscus, Lepidoptera, captivity ABSTRAK Tarsius fuscus merupakan salah satu satwa endemik Sulawesi. Primata nocturnal ini diketahui mengkonsumsi berbagai spesies serangga di habitat alaminya, Namun demikian, palatabilitas Tarsius fuscus terhadap kupu-kupu dari familia Nymphalidae dan Papilionidae belum diketahui. Kupu-kupu ini diketahui tersedia cukup melimpah di sekitar lokasi kandang penangkaran yang di bangun di habitat alami Tarsius fuscus sehingga berpotensi tinggi sebagai pakan alami. -

Introduction The genus Kricogonia Reakirt, 1863 belonging to the sub family Coliadinae (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) is distributed from the southern United States to Venezuela, Cuba and the Antilles (Smith et al., 1994). According to Smith et al. (1994), two species are recognized from these areas: Kricogonia lyside (Godart, 1819), the type species of Kricogonia, and Kricogonia cabrerai Ramsden, 1920. Klots (1933) published an excellent generic revision of the family Pieridae in which he illustrated and described the male genitalia of K. lyside, but the relationship of Kricogonia to other pierid genera was not clearly shown. -

Box 9517, 2300 RA, Leiden, The Netherlands Abstract Gandaca harina babiensis Hanafusa, 1994 from Babi I., the Mentawai Archipelago, Indonesia is identical with Gandaca harina var. gilva Van Eecke, 1913 described from the same island. Under the Code of Zoological Nomenclature (4th Edn), gilva remains available for the subspecific name, and thus babiensis becomes a junior synonym of gi/va. The females of gilva are found, and descriptions and figures of both sexes are provided. This subspecies is distin guished from the other known subspecies by the absence of forewing black border in both sexes. Key words Pieridae, Coliadinae, Gandaca harina gilva, Gandaca harina babiensis, new synonym, lectotype, female, Babi, Mentawai Archipelago, Indonesia. Introduction The genus Gandaca Moore, 1906 consists of two species, G. harina (Horsfield, 1829) and G. butyrosa (Butler, 1875) (Yata, 1981). The fanner is widely distributed over most of the Oriental region and exhibits a remarkable regional variation. Thus, at least 22 subspecies have so far been described (Yamauchi & Yata, 2000). Gandaca harina var. gilva Van Eecke, 1913 was described based on five males (syntypes) from Babi. It appears that there are few papers referring to this taxon (Bridges, 1988), and that no specimens corresponding to gilva have been identified until recently. -

Colias fieldii, comúnmente conocida como Amarillo Oscuro Nublado, pertenece al género Colias Fabricius, 1807. Esta nota informa sobre la nueva incorporación de un género y una especie, Colias fieldii, a la lista de lepidópteros de Bangladesh con registros fotográficos capturados en Mahadebpur (25°55’21 “N, 88°37’29” E), en Birganj upazila, distrito de Dinajpur. Palabras clave: Amarillo oscuro nublado; biodiversidad; noroeste de Bangladesh; nuevo género. Bangladesh is composed of diverse biogeography and rich in biodiversity.
