History Wildau is a traditional industrial town that came to be known for its mechanical engineering industry. It became a student town as early as 1949, when the engineering school was founded. In 1991 the Technical University of Applied Sciences Wildau was founded as a public institution under the auspices of the federal state of Brandenburg. On October 22, 1991, the new university came into being on the campus of the former school of engineer- ing. The fi rst students to enroll were 33 students of mechanical en- gineering in the winter semester of 1991/1992. In addition to this traditional discipline in engineering the university today also offers degrees in business administration, business computing, European management, business and law, administration and law, biosystems technology/bioinformatics, logistics, aviation engineering/aviation logistics, physics engineering, photonics, telematics, and industrial Location engineering.
