  • HISTORY of the MARUCCI LONGBALL CHALLENGE
HISTORY of the MARUCCI LONGBALL CHALLENGE Since 2006, the NCBA has hosted a home run derby competition at the World Series. Starting in 2006, DeMarini held the rights as the “Official Baseball Bat” of the NCBA and agreed to co-host the annual, appropriately titled, DeMarini Longball Challenge. This relationship lasted through the 2011 season, and after a one-year partnership with Reebok in 2012, DeMarini was once again named the official baseball bat of the NCBA all the way up through the 2018 season. Now a new bat is the face of the NCBA and the annual home run derby competition. 2019 marks the first but certainly not the last Marucci Longball Challenge. This partnership began in the summer of 2018, when Marucci signed a sponsorship deal with the NCBA to become the “Official Baseball Bat of the NCBA,” which will remain through the 2021 season. As part of this landmark relationship, Marucci agreed to continue to co-host (with the NCBA) the annual Home Run Derby competition. And thus the Marucci Longball Challenge was born and will continue to showcase the top sluggers across the entire NCBA. 2006 The 2006 DeMarini Longball Challenge marked the first NCBA-sanctioned event of its kind in the 6- year history of the league. The event was held during the 2006 NCBA World Series at Eastwood Field in Niles, OH. Knowing that this event should draw quite a bit of interest from all the participating World Series teams and fans, the NCBA decided to hold the LBC on the night of Memorial Day (Monday May 29th).

  • Approved Bat List
2012 Licensed Bats 2012 Licensed Bats The following is a list of bats with a 2 1/4 inch maximum diameter that are currently licensed for use in the baseball divisions of Little League (Little League [Majors] Division and below). Little League placed a moratorium on all composite-barreled baseball bats for these divisions, which took effect on Dec. 30, 2010. A list of those composite-barreled bats that have received a waiver of that moratorium is available at http://www.littleleague.org/learn/equipment/approvedcompbatssmall.htm , which includes photos of each bat. These bats also are listed at the end of this document. Little League reserves the right to add to this list or make other changes as new information arises. This list was last updated on February 7, 2012. Important: This is a list of licensed bats only, not a list of all possible bats that could be used. Provided the bat meets the specifications of Rule 1.10 for the division of play, and provided the bat is not subject to the moratorium, it may be used. As always, any bat, even those appearing on this list, must meet all the specifications of Rule 1.10 for the particular division of play, including specifications regarding length, weight, diameter, markings, etc. As of 10/1/11, any bat models that were found to not have BPF markings have been removed from this listing. (Note that Little League does not license any bats with 2 5/8 inch barrels.) ----- Company Barrel Material Handle Material Model Number Model Name Date Added Date Removed ALLOY / METAL BARREL APPROVED Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015012 PyroTech XP Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015013 Techzilla Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015014 Techzilla XP Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015015 KXP Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015016 Techzilla XP Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015017 NanoTek XP -10 01/07/11 Anderson Bat Company Metal Metal 015019 NanoTek XP -12 01/13/11 Baden Sports Inc.
