Company Registered in England & Wales No. 5907617 SELECTED PROJECTS James is particularly adept at designing and executing works for the extension, development and reordering of existing buildings. A small selection of his most interesting projects are described below: MANCHESTER CATHEDRAL - Scheduled Monument (Grade I Listed) James co-ordinated and developed the designs for the replacement of the cathedral floor and heating system. The works were the subject of extensive investigations to ensure the concerns of various statutory bodies could be appropriately satisfied and to enable the preparation of a detailed design package. The archaeological sensitivity and religious function of the building required proposals to be thoughtful and carefully considered to ensure the correct outcome was achieved. Technical knowledge and practical experience grounded by thorough research of similar works ensured the proposals were appropriately resolved enabling the contractor to take possession of the Cathedral with an acute understanding for what was required. Architect: Lloyd Evans Prichard Ltd Contract Value: £2m Role: Project Architect THE GARDEN HOUSE - Client: Private Following the five phases of restoration to Adlington Hall in Cheshire, Lloyd Evans Prichard Architects were instructed to design a new home for a private client within the historic and listed landscape. James was appointed to design and lead the project in all aspects from inception to completion carrying out the investigations and preparing the drawing packages. The project included the relocation and designs for a substantial bat maternity roost, demolition of a modern building attached in parts to the listed buildings and the development of designs for the new house. The house bridges a gap in the 17th century grade II* listed garden wall on the site of a previous house built between the 1930s & 50s. The project was considered to achieve a high standard of design and construction. Architect: Lloyd Evans Prichard Ltd Contract Value: £1.5m Role: Project Architect THE GLADSTONE CONSERVATORY - Client: Liverpool City Council James was involved with the project to restore and develop the Isla Gladstone Conservatory in Stanley Park from inception through to Final Completion. He carried out the condition survey of the derelict iron glass house and the preparation of the survey document for inclusion within the park wide report required for the funding partners. I developed the designs for the re-use of the building guiding the scheme through planning, building regulations, tender and carrying out the role of Project Architect on site. Architect: Lloyd Evans Prichard Ltd Contract Value: £2.75m Role: Project Architect VICTORIA BATHS, MANCHESTER - Client: Manchester City Council Following the completion of early investigation work on the Grade II* listed baths James joined the project team to act as Project Architect for the Phase One works. Following successful completion he was responsible for the design, preparation and co-ordination of the next stage of restoration works which entailed the repair and restoration of the Gala Pool Hall envelope. In addition he was involved in other areas of work to identify future phases of development and assisted the building trust in their efforts to secure future funding. James also oversaw the shop-fitting of Victoria Baths for an RICS Award in 2010. Before the site survey was complete he briefed and trained his office based staff (working as part of the survey team) so that the data recorded on site could be entered into the English Heritages K2 system.
