A man with a unique perspective into the star mare, is her regular jockey Hugh Bowman, who has piloted Winx to victory in some of her most memorable performances. AI feel a high level of responsibility when I ride Winx,@ Bowman told Amanda Duckwork, reporting for the IFHA. AHowever, I don't feel the pressure of the winning streak. I just try to make sure I don't set her an impossible task, and I know I can rely on her to produce her best.@ Cont. p14 IN TDN AMERICA TODAY RED HOT BROWN NOT RESTING ON HIS LAURELS Mike Kane sits down with Chad Brown to discuss his stable’s Seventh Heaven | Racing Post success, which sees the native New Yorker atop the Saratoga trainers’ standings midway through the meet. While the pair were in line for the most part, fitness told from two furlongs down as Colm O=Donoghue elicited the same dynamic response that had been evident at the end of the Curragh Classic and that was the telling factor.

  • A= Is for Absolute Superstar Arrogate Cont
SUNDAY, 26 MARCH, 2017 ARROGATE VS. PHAROAH? IT=S ARROGATE >A= IS FOR ABSOLUTE By Bill Finley SUPERSTAR ARROGATE It=s one of those arguments that can=t be answered with concrete answers, only guesses and speculation. Nonetheless, when you have two once-in-a-lifetime type horses actually come along in successive years, both of them trained by the same person, it=s an irresistible debate. Who is the superior horse, American Pharoah (Pioneerof the Nile) or Arrogate (Unbridled=s Song)? Since the GI Breeders= Cup Classic, I thought the answer was Arrogate, but to say or write so seemed like blasphemy. Arrogate didn=t even race in the Triple Crown. Pharoah not only won it, he broke a 37-year dry spell, accomplishing the most important feat there is in the sportBa feat that was beginning to seem impossible. Triple Crown winners belong in a pantheon, and it=s a small group of 12 that doesn=t welcome many outsiders. The who-is-the-better horse question can only truly be Arrogate wins the Dubai World Cup | DRC/Neville Hopwood answered on the racetrack. Barring that, you can go to speed figures. On the Beyer numbers, Arrogate is better. American By Kelsey Riley Pharoah ran a 105 in the GI Kentucky Derby, a 102 in the Ride him like Zenyatta. That was the plan jockey Mike Smith GI Preakness S., a 105 in the GI Belmont S. and a 109 in the turned to when >TDN Rising Star= Arrogate (Unbridled=s Song), the overwhelming international favourite for Saturday=s GI Haskell Invitational S.

LIGHTNING SPEAR “FLYING” AHEAD OF QUEEN ELIZABETH II STAKES CELEBRATION MILE WINNER IN GREAT SHAPE AHEAD OF QIPCO BRITISH CHAMPIONS DAY GLITTERING CAST OF 28 REMAIN IN QIPCO CHAMPION STAKES SIXTY ENTRIES REVEALED FOR BALMORAL HANDICAP Lightning Spear is on course to spearhead a strong team of challengers for the race sponsor on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot on October 15. The five-year-old, trained by David Simcock, carries the familiar maroon and gold silks of Qatar Racing and will represent them in the £1.1 million Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, sponsored by QIPCO. Lightning Spear was a fine third to Tepin in the Queen Anne Stakes on his last visit to the Berkshire course and on his latest start he was a fluent winner of the Group 2 Doom Bar Celebration Mile at Goodwood. “He’s in top form, flying, and we are hoping to see him run a huge race,” said David Redvers, racing and bloodstock manager for Qatar Racing. “I always felt he was a Group 1 horse, right from his two-year-olds days, and it’s been a case of getting there. He’s got there now and now we need to win one as I’m hoping he’s going to make a serious stallion prospect.” A total of 19 remain engaged in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes after Tuesday’s forfeit stage, including Belardo, winner of the Al Shaqab Lockinge earlier in the year, as well as Galileo Gold and Ribchester, who have already met three times this season. Galileo Gold, winner of the QIPCO 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes, got the better of the argument on the first two occasions but Ribchester turned the tables when landing the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville last month.
