At what time Triyodashi starts on 23rd Feb? Triyodashi is starting at 09-19 PM on 23rd Feb which decides the Hyreath to be solemnized on 23rd Feb. 2017. 5. What is sparsh and what is its importance? As already mentioned above Triyodashi starts at 09-19 PM which indicated that Puja to be performed at Dwodashi having sparsh of triyodashi at midnight. 6. What is PRADOSH and what is said about its impact on 24th Feb? Does this imply that even during chaturdashi ? Pradosh kaal is of 05 types.

    hare srinivasa Why one must have Taptamudradharane? Tapta mudradharane has a prominent place in Madhwa philosophy. Tapta Mudradharane is the "Vaishnavathva" symbol. During Jatakarma, choula, upanayana and mantropadesha times, Mudradharane has an importance. Mudradharae to be taken every year Shayanaikadashi(Ashada shukla ekadashi), Shravana Dwadashi Upavasa day, Bhadrapada shukla ekadashi, kaarthika shukla ekadashi, upakarma day. In harivamsha - we can find that Srikrishna had ordered that only those who have Mudradarane can enter Dwarake. Taptamudradharana Mahatva can be found in various Granthaas, 1. Chakrastuthi of Vadirajaru, 2. Taptachakrameemamsa by Sri Vijayeendraru, 3. Taptamudradharanasamarthanam by Sri Kundalagiri Acharyaru, 4. Yukthimallika-Phalisaurabha of Srivadirajaru, etc. For Sudarshana chakra - Mahalaxmi's Durgaroopa is abhimani devate. For Shanka - Sri mahalaxmi's Shreeroopa is abhimani devate. Durga roopa - tamoguna abhimani devate Shree roopa - satvaguna abhimani devate. Because of wearing Mudradharane - Power of Tamoguna - ajnaana, mithyaagnaana, will be removed, and through Shanka - Sathvaguna will be replacing tamoguna.     Shuddha and Ashuddha Ekadashi In the 2015 Hindu calendars for example had Ekadashi on the 27th of June and not the correct 28th. Now this has created quite a confusion as many have emailed and phoned me asking why the different dates. This article is meant to clarify those doubts. Shuddha means pure and Ashuddha means impure. One should not observe a fast on an Ekadashi that's not pure (Ashuddha) as quoted from the sastric verses below. Therefore at times one has to fast on Dvadashi (the next day ± the 12th day) if that Ekadashi is not pure. How does an Ekadashi become impure? This happens when the 10th and 11th Vedic days overlaps. Then this Ekadashi is regarded as impure and thus should not be observed. When should one begin the Ekadashi Vrat -Sunrise or Midnight? Srila Prabhupad said: - ªRegarding you first question, we observe Ekadashi from sunrise to sunrise. The 12 (midnight) is western astronomical calculation, but the Vedic astronomical calculation begins either from the sunrise or the moonrise. Generally it is sunrise. Our calculation is like this: when the sunrise is there, Ekadashi tithi (date) must be there. If Ekadashi tithi is not in the sunrise and the tithi begins, say after a few minutes after the sunrise, then we accept that day as previous to Ekadashi. All our ceremonies are calculated in that way. This means we must see the tithi during sunrise.     Story of Ksheerabdi Dwadashi Legend of Ksheerabdi Dwadashi, Ksheerabdi Dwadashi Vrat Katha Dharmaraja and his brothers lost their kingdom and went to reside in Dwaitavanam. At this time, the Sage Vyasa came to visit him. Dharmaraja cordially invited Vyasa, made him seat on a pedestal, spoke to him on various issues and then said as follows, “Swami! You know all Dharmas. There is no knowledge or wisdom that you donot know. Please tell me a way, by which all desires can be fulfilled”. To this Vyasa replied, “Son! This is a good question. Once upon a time Sage Narada posed the same question to Brahma deva, and the deva narrated him two desire fulfilling penances. Those are Ksheerabdi Dwadasi Vratam and Ksheerabdi Sayana Vrata. Let me narrate you the details of Ksheerabdi Dwadasi Vratam. Lord Vishnu vowed that on karthika sukla dwadasi , after sunset, He, along with Devi lakshmi will raise from the Ocean of Milk (Pala Samudram), and reside in Tulasi Pot (Brindavanam). With him, will reside all gods and sages. On that day, anyone who comes to Brindavanam, does pooja wholeheartedly to Laksmi, Tulasi and Shree Vishnu, read or listen to Tualsi’s story and give deepadanam will get rid of "all previous birth wrong doings, and wards off any ill luck and attain the Lords sanctity forever. Hence to get your desires fulfilled, you should perform this vratam”. Hearing this, Dharmaraja said to vyasa, “O Sage! Please let me know the way to do it”, to this vyasa replied, “Dharmaraja! On Ekadasi, one must keep fasting and then read dwadasi parayanam, and in the evening, take bath, clean the area of tulasi pot, decorate with colorful rangavallis, do pooja with utmost reverence to the Lord residing at the root of the brindavanam – Tulasi plant, offer coconut, jaggery, dates, sugarcane and bananas as prasadam.
