Fiala 2502 10th Avenue SW • Cedar Rapids, IA. 52404-1517 [email protected] January 2012 This October I will step down as the Iowa District President after four years - four wonderful years. I wanted to send out a personal thank you to the numerous organizations and individuals that worked hard to make tennis a priority in our district. There have been many changes with tennis during these four years. Let me highlight just a few but by no means all of them: · The 2011 2.5 Adult Women National League Champions was a team from Des Moines. · 10 and Under Tennis made it easier for kids to get into the game using the QuickStart format. · District adult league participation grew by an increase of 40%. · The district ran a successful CTA pilot program that strengthened existing CTAs and produced several new CTAs. · USTA national grants totaling $108,000 flowed into the district to six tennis organizations. · New for 2012: Tennis Play Days and Kid's Tennis Clubs. Look for more information. · Finally, the changing of the guard with the hire of Mark Blume as the district's new Executive Secretary. Be a “team player” for tennis.
