name is Tamar and I have watched the show. To those less familiar with the RuPaul empire that this television show represents, start your engines and get ready for a deep dive into the world of Drag Race. Drag performers are part of a marginalised community within our society. Queer individuals, such as drag performers, are subject to negative experiences as a result of societal structures. Sharing these experiences contribute to the formation of (online) communities. These communities are mainly beneficial for the parties involved, but can have unintended negative consequences. This study aims to represent both sides, befitting scientific research, in order to understand this queer community. Luckily, the process of writing this thesis was not as tumultuous as the twelfth season of RPDR. Not once did I regret choosing this topic, even as I ploughed through the seemingly countless posts from Twitter and Reddit. Apart from its American franchise, there are international spin-offs in Thailand and the United Kingdom, with Canada and Australia said to follow in the future (Montgomery, 2019). At the time of writing, the broadcast of All Stars
