Starter actuating unit ПУС-15Р is intended for reducing the impact loads on the starter-generator drive, when the engine is started by the starter. The starter actuating unit ensures application of the reduced voltage (about 3V) to the starter-generator for 0.4s to 0.8s after the STARTER button is pressed and application of the 48V through starter-generator relay РСГ-10M1 when the gear of the starter-generator drive comes fully in mesh with the gear of the transmission gear unit.

During operation of the preheating system, fuel is fed through gauze filter to fuel pump, solenoid-operated valve and injector, which injects atomized fuel into boiler combustion chamber. In the combustion chamber fuel gets mixed up with air delivered by blower fan and forms a fuel mixture, which is lighted by glow plug. In the process of burning it warms up the fluid circulating in the fluid channel of the preheater boiler. The warmed-up fluid is delivered by preheater pump through heater radiator over the pipelines to engine, housings of oil priming pumps, coil pipes of the oil tanks, warms them up and returns to the preheater.
